What’s the interior space like on these vehicles? Comparable? Or is one larger than the other?
Timely post. I’ve been looking to upgrade my daily driver EV if I can find the right lease deal. For context I daily drive a Hyundai Ioniq 5 which is the only EV I’ve had.
I test drove the Q8 e-tron Premium Plus on Monday and the iX 50 and EQE 350+ yesterday. This was the first time driving the Audi and BMW and the third time driving the MB.
Unlike most EV shoppers I don’t care about charge times or range as much as most because I only charge in the garage, and the furthest I’ll ever drive with them is 80-100 miles at one time. Also I dislike one-pedal driving as I like my EV to drive like an ICE but have the ability to regen with brake pedal.
Q8 e-tron - even though refreshed essentially still a 2019 vehicle and “dated” compared to the iX and EQE which are newer. Not a bad looking vehicle but good or bad won’t stand out in the crowd. Has the dual screens, interior is typical Audi which is good. I liked that it comes with an OEM spare tire that’s under the trunk, I didn’t like that it doesn’t have a creep mode, although once you are moving it can coast and drive “normally.” Has $8500 incentives and at worst you could do 6% off MSRP with ACNA membership. I didn’t even bother asking dealer for numbers because even at say 8-9% off this car is too expensive to me.
iX - Elephant in the room of course is the exterior. For the longest time I thought it was literally the ugliest vehicle on the road. However every review I read said the iX was the best in class. I had zero interest but once BMW lowered the MF and increased incentives, magically the iX looked much better! I liked the interior a lot. The cup holders are goofy but I like the insert for the phone right in the middle and the screens and the thick steering wheel. The translucent roof is really cool. I like the openness on the floor between the front two seats as I’m used to that with my Ioniq 5. $9900 incentive and dealer offered me 6% off on a 2024. However, based on numbers presented (0 down max MSD’s still $1089/month for 36/10k), I could tell they jacked up the MF and added $700 for tint.
EQE SUV - Really wanted to love this the most as I’m more of a MB fan than Audi or BMW. Exterior is kinda goofy looking but better than the iX and more unique than the Audi. The interior is really nice and I love the large screen in the middle and actually prefer it over the hyperscreen if the trim is done right (linden grey wood). The gas pedal to me seems like I need to put more effort into it and the drive is smooth and comfortable but uninspired. It’s a shame because right now the deals are best on this car. $10,000 with affinity and at least 10% off online. Local dealer only doing like 2-3%. I found a deal through Marketplace with MB of Portland that was 17.5% off after affinity before $7,500. 36/10k miles 0 down max MSD’s is $680/month for a $85k car. Really tempting but I want to work an iX deal first.
All that said I would not lease an e-tron for a similar amount as an iX. It’s ironic that the car I think should lease for the lowest has the worst deals right now. I originally wanted to get a lease under $700/month but I’m willing to pay more for the iX if equipped right. Your $780/month deal for a $98k vehicle is very good, likely because it’s a 2023. That has to be over 10% off with max MSD’s and if not even better. I reached out to a dealer in TN with a 2023 on the lot spec’d perfectly and those mofo’s came back with a $1300/month lease with 0% off MSRP before $9900.
From BMWs website with MSRP of 90,595. OPs looks to have a nice discount to get the payment to around the same with 8k higher MSRP and less money out of pocket.
Appreciate the thoughtful comments! Yeah, IX is a 23 model, 12+% off MSRP before rebates, no MSDs
I didn’t feel much difference. Didn’t check the dimension spec, my feeling from test drive is IX longer, but Q8 is wider.
Is the $790 including tax? Also do you know what are differences between a $87XXX spec IX50s and those in the $98XXX range? Also does the 2023 have the $9900 rebate like the 2024?
BMW iX days to turn been creeping up from 30-40 since March. I see more money needed to keep them from hitting 60 days.
Meanwhile the Jellybean EQS are hitting 70-80 days. EVs are dealers boat anchors right now
Update…
Now the GT is seriously considered, with the new quote below…
23 E-tron GT, MSRP: $109k, DAS including first month: $3500, Monthly: $840
Decision time…
Are the two Etrons quotes from same dealer?,can you expand a bit on your selling price and rebates associate with these quotes you are getting?
GT looks great but the two things that killed it for me were how difficult it is to get into and the fact that there are no surround view cameras at a $109k price point.
This is a great thread as I recently just went through the same situation. I am coming off a 2019 etron SUV and was in the market for the Q8 Etron because of the extended miles. Like everyone else, the iX was not on our radar as the exterior at first glance took some getting used to. What is odd - after a week or so, the front grill does not stand out to me as before. My problem with the Q8 etron is, there is nothing dramatically new, it certainly has the luxurious look on the exterior and the interior is classic, clean and feels great. But in no way would I be paying the lease prices being offered right now.
With the iX - the interior has more of a wow factor and feels more exciting. Especially with the leasing options, it is definitely worth considering. After going back and forth, I decided to jump in on the 2024 BMW iX and couldn’t be happier.
Yes, the Q8 Etron will eventually get heavily discounted but personally, I would not pay anything north of 750/m on it purely because the only difference to me is the extra mileage. You can probably start picking up used 2019-2023 etrons for quite cheap.
Thank you all for your inputs and comments! Now the decision has been made, will post more number details later. Great car indeed!!
Congrats! Amazing color
That don’t look like no q8 etron
How did we go from soccer-mom SUVs to a very low sedan with no backseat?
Bragging rights be a hell of a drug.
Got some good numbers I cannot pass on… Kids are big enough to ride without car seats, lol…
GT came into the mix couple weeks back with good incentives available this month. My goal was to get a nice EV deal, now I achieved it
Congrats on the car, I love how it turned from a SUV discussion to a GT I am in a similar boat and almost jumped on a GT but had to be realistic for my wife and get the iX haha. Enjoy the car!
