2026 Nissan Murano Buy Question

Wife wants to buy a new 2026 Nissan Murano. The dealer claims they are losing over $3000 with the “deal” they are giving her. I’m calling BS and wanted to provide you guys the numbers they gave to her as well as their “screenshot” of their computer with invoice pricing

. I have not purchased a vehicle in quite awhile but the last one I did purchase, I used another site’s spreadsheet that factored in holdback and the profit you wanted the dealership to make and my offer was taken to the penny both times. I also used the calculator here with the numbers provided by the dealership and the note shows $393 vs their $444 a month. Leasehackr Calculator - Hack your next lease | Leasehackr

Can someone possibly go over the numbers and help me understand if I’m wrong or they are wrong. I still think they are making 3% fair profit based on the pdf I uploaded.

offer.pdf (212.6 KB)

Isnt 700+ effective monthly in the realm of mercs and bows? Even the q60 lux is cheaper effectively…

I’m not sure what you are saying here.

They’re saying it doesn’t make sense.

Did you get a chance to look at the PDF I uploaded by chance. I still think monthly payment should be less than what they are calculating.

The payment in the caculator is not including taxes and fees. Your total is $23580 (or 393 a month for 60 months). The total due or balance on your worksheet is $29,601.92.Take off your 3k down, it would be $26,601.92 or 60 payments of $443.36.

So, unless you lower the sales price (for a lower payment)they have the payment correct for the offer they gave you.

The calculator by this site I did plug in the tax rate for Texas which is 6.25% for vehicles. Also with that worksheet I uploaded, do the numbers look right to get to the fair selling price to customer before the trade in and cash down?

There are a few items missing in your finance calculator link. Notably it assumes 0% APR for 60 months and includes a $4,167 incentive that is an amount already reflected in the selling price.

The picture of the quote cuts off some of the trade-in details, as well as the APR and term (number of months).

How many months are you financing? What vehicle are you trading in and have you shopped around to get the highest offer? What does the $1,125 refer to under “Valuing your trade”?

Thanks for the response Michael. It would be 0% for 60 months. Trading in a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee w/extremely low miles (34k). They are offering $18k for the trade which was same as Carvana. The $1125 is the tax savings for the valuing of my trade. They have that broke down as actual value of $18k for trade, $1125 tax savings and they added those two numbers together to get $19125. I guess at the end of the day, I’m asking if my worksheet I uploaded as a PDF still shows them earning money on this deal the (3%) I plugged in. All the invoice and MSRP numbers match what they have on their document as compared to my spreadsheet.

So the $42723.47 from my worksheet is before taking off $18k for trade and $3k for cash down along with the dealer doc of $225 and license and title fees of 287.80.

Got it, that makes sense. After removing the erroneous rebates and accounting for the trade-in tax savings, I got the same monthly payment on the calculator as the dealer ($444/mo), so nothing nefarious there.

As to the dealer’s cost and how much profit they should be making, the Leasehackr community will tell you that it’s not your concern. They could be losing money on a unit and still sell you a car, if it means they reach their volume targets. Shop around, see what others are paying, and be sure to not conflate dealer discount with any incentives. For example, I’m seeing on Rate Findr that there’s a $1,000 Holiday Bonus Cash that the dealer may have included in the “Discount.”

Yes, they did include that. I guess my hangup is the invoice pricing from the spreadsheet and plugging in the 3% for the profit they would make. That is how I bought my last vehicle calculating that invoice pricing on the car along with the options. That was in 2018 so maybe things have changed, who knows.

Thanks for the input!!
