2026 M340i lease in Hawaii

Hello! Back again but this time interested in a 2026 M340i. He sent me this deal via text. I’ve met him in person and already test drove the car but made it known I’m not really in a hurry to purchase.

I know this deal is bad, how can we make it a bit better? I originally wanted 39/12 but I think he forgot. I asked for the MF and he originally told me they don’t give them out but he did after I made a statement. Their MF is 0.00185, I know their real MF is 0.00135. The difference in residual between 10k/12k is 1% so 57% and 56%.

I think this sheet is missing some numbers as well.

Keep in mind that I live in Hawaii (Oahu) and there is only one BMW dealership.

I’m honestly surprised they’re even willing to entertain a discount on that model there, you’re already ahead of most since you really are at their mercy tbh given the logistics, not to mention cost of shipping a car leased on the mainland.

Even if you got 9% off list and did PCD then trucked the car to CA and put it on a Matson ship you’d likely just still be breaking even after you consider the time you’ll be out of the car and still paying to lease and insure it. Make sense?

Thanks for the reply.

So, basically you are saying that for Hawaii, this is an “okay” deal? No way to get them down to about $850 per month?

$850/month would require another $3k off. Not sure if that’s doable in Hawaii.

Take some time and learn to use your super supporter status to put together a calculator with your target offer and DAS and present to the dealer. He knows you don’t know what you are doing so he is taking advantage of that.

How does this look?

Calculator.

Did I miss anything?

consider max MSDs. Incentives may be taxable- depending on the state.

Looks like you went to Edmunds and got buy rate and RV so good on you!

In the mainland I’d be targeting at least 8% and between 10-12% off to start.

What is your untaxed incentives of 1500?

I thought rebates were considered untaxed incentives. At least that is what ChatGPT told me. So maybe that is incorrect.

I highly doubt that I’ll get anywhere close to 8% off in Hawaii.

They’re taxed in more states than they aren’t.

I remember it was either here on maybe on edmunds MANY years ago. I think it was edmunds actually. There was a guy who lived in HI and leased his BMWs from a dealer in CA. He said the discount coupled with the buy rate money factor was well worth the wait as well as the cost of shipping. This was a LONG time ago and I don’t remember the particulars of the deal…

Maybe purchase in mainland with the much bigger discounts, ship and keep several years instead of leasing.

That makes more sense for sure. 8-9% is a good range to target on these for a custom order on the mainland. Shipping is still likely going to eat 4% and as much as 5% of the discount though depending on the build..

Bear in mind they build far less of these now than they used to build Fxx M3’s

The issue is that unless I get a very significant discount, it is going to cost me at the very minimum $2,300 to have it shipped from any West Coast Port. I say minimum because that was how much it cost my friend to ship their 2018 KIA from LA. When I shipped my car across country to Hawaii, it was $3,300 and that was over 4 years ago. I assume the more expensive the car, the more it cost to transport due to insurances.

So unless I were to find a 2026 m340i with a significant discount to offset the shipping as well as needing to wait at least a month after purchasing to even get the vehicle. A 10% discount is only about $6,600, so easily half of that is gone right away.

To reiterate my initial response. 3% off and buy rate would be a solid deal for Hawaii given the logistics.

I agree. I have one at 11% off before incentives, but it’s a higher sticker, so while it’s a better deal overall, I think the monthly is only $65 less, which basically ends up being the cost of shipping.

Try @ZZAutoDeals in LA, see what he can do.

Thanks, but wouldn’t be able to assist with Hawaii. Good luck, OP!

@bigman123

But they have 3 of them on the lot now? They won’t deal?

Because of your unique circumstances of being in Hawaii (Oahu or otherwise), you should stop screwing around with that dealer on their new m340i lease and look at killing a deal on one of this with a low finance rate:

Big island:

Also Big Island but also an new M340i so try and see what their lease numbers are:

Has to be somewhat reasonable to ship a car from Kona on the Big Island to Oahu. Just some other suggestions.

Good luck!

I’ve actually test driven that 2024 BMW m340i and they’ve been calling me about it for the past month. Now that I’m checking it, they’ve actually reduced the price from 55k to now 48k. Damn, that is crazy. They really want it gone. They did mention it had a “minor scratch” that was fixed via Insurance. My only issue about that car is that it only has about 18 or so months left of Warranty. Is 48k a good deal?

But they have 3 of them on the lot now? They won’t deal?

They actually had 4 (all recently shipped in) and they just sold the white one, so now 3.
