I missed out on the nice Lyriq deals of yesteryear but the Lyriq fit the bill for what our family was looking for — EV, crossover, short transferable lease. Tried in a 300-mile radius to get a base Sport AWD (loaner and new) and didn’t get anywhere on the former. A local dealer ended up being fair from the get-go. Not a lot of back and forth and got to where I wanted.
Initially agreed on $380/mo with around $1,700 DAS with Conquest, Private Offer, GM Card, and EV Friends & Family. Of course the GM Card was complex for the dealer and they also said they didn’t take credit cards only after I show up on site…so they had to get creative on their end for me not to walk out. They waived the doc fee and restructured things so the actual inputs are all over the place in the calculator. I actually ended up with a better deal than originally agreed and I’m not complaining.
The numbers:
MSRP: $65,894
Selling price: $58,279 (11.56% off)
Fees: $336.97 (“inspection” - lowered doc fee I guess $234.97 + e-file $99 + lemon law $3)
Side note: if you’re in Georgia, the LH calculator doesn’t handle GA TAVT on leases correctly. The TAVT is calculated on depreciation + amortized amounts, not full lease value. I flagged this to the admins separately. You’ll have trouble replicating GA deals in the calculator.
Shoutout to @delta737h for helping me crack the TAVT math and to @trism for being the Lyriq buying Buddy I never knew I had…Drove it home without ever having test driven one. Second EV lease in a row done sight unseen….
I mean in terms of discount I would just do it. What is making my payment lower is the low doc fee and actual taxes that are much lower than expected. I honestly based my discount on some of the numbers I have seen here on LH from done deals and brokers.
I managed to get 10% off a loaner in North Texas last week; not the buy rate but I did buy from a premium dealer known for their service. Worth a shot IMHO. Lyriq volume is down a ton since the tax credit expired. If you’re in north LA and want a Texas hookup let me know. You should avoid TX taxes by registering in LA.
There is a dealer in the Houston area with advertised prices up to 12,000$ before incentives on 26’ loaners. I’ll let you find this one. In person only…could result in bargain pricing….
That’s why talking through email is a bit less humiliating. In SoCal I got laughed at by a few salesman when I asked for a sub $200 dodge charger EV. Then once of them agreed to it on email.
