2025 Subaru Crosstrek Sport purchase need advice

I live in socal and went to a Subaru dealership. I got numbers for a Subaru Crosstrek Sport 2025 with the 22 package.

The initial offer I got was ridiculous. They included all the add-ons plus other optional things like gap insurance. Add-ons were roughly $3200 .(SPLASH GUARDS $329.00 5674 CLEAR SHIELD $299.00 PERMA PLATE $799.00 558 WHEEL LOCKS $199.00 KARR SECURITY $999.00 SCREEN PROTECTOR $299.00 STARLINK 5YR $274.95) (first offer highlighted in yellow)

they keep lowering the price of the add ons little by little but I walked out, they came back for me and I got them to remove them all. I also removed all optionals ones (highlighted in blue)

Total selling price is $32,129 after a $2643 dealer discount.

I asked to see the invoice price which showed they paid $32,641.

I told them I would give them $31,000 for it and they refused.

Was this a great deal or just average ?am I being unrealistic for asking $1,129 off ?

Also that APR of 2.9 is on approved credit .they had not run my credit yet so they were assuming I’d get that APR incentive.

It sounds like you asked the dealer what they wanted you to pay, and they told you.

You’re not new here, what has your research here told you about the best strategies for buying a subaru?

What has it told you a CT sport should cost?

About what SoCal dealers don’t play games?

You’re putting yourself in an impossible position by asking for quotes. Here’s bonus quote from W.C. Fields: “It is morally wrong to let a sucker keep his money.”’

They either try this with everybody or they’ve assessed you as a low-information shopper so they threw everything at you.

It good that you’re taking a step back to determine exactly what you’re willing to spend before moving forward.

Here’s one thread that might help. I don’t know anything about this brand, but searching through historical threads like this should at least illuminate some key concepts.

I went to Penfed and negotiated from their offers. They use truecar which has some aggressive pricing considering it’s just a buying service. And they give you exact VINs from multiple dealers. When you negotiate, some dealers say that those prices don’t include add-ons but in my experience many don’t (although some do). Do your work. Text/email until you get the discount you want. Today 8/31 is a good day to negotiate too!

$512 back of invoice is decent, you may be able to beat it by a few hundred but it might not be worth your while. You did great in deleting the add-ons. Amazing that ppl are sheep and will actually pay for these things

I wasnt told of any add-ons when I test drove the vehicle which really did catch me by surprised. In my research I have been aware that they’ll do this so I wasn’t surprised.

I am going to go to two different dealerships today to try to get the lower deal.

I clicked on the link you posted but I got error saying it was “that page does not exist or it’s private”

Yeah I’m sure a lot of people end up paying for all those add ons. And I am calling different places to get deals today I am also going to visit two different dealerships so shall see.

When we test drove the car the sales rep told me the cost was 32-something after dealership discount. He never mentioned the add ons.

I signed up six months ago but I’m really active on this page so idk how to navigate it really well so I havent gotten much research on this particular manufacturer. I just have general knowledge.

Really. I will give you a call.

If you already know you like the car, there’s no need to go into the dealership. Save your time by communicating by e-mail or text (and strongly consider reaching out the broker who has already posted on this thread).

Also, I don’t know if “invoice” is a particularly meaningful term when negotiating a price.

We’ve leased through Beach Cities, Jeff is tough to beat, so if you can’t do better, consider it a great deal.
