I wanted to share my lease hacking experience with the community.
I signed my 2025 Honda Prologue Touring AWD 24/10 lease deal a couple of days ago. I did a one-pay of $5,700 for 2 years at 10K miles per year.
Background: I had returned my 2023 Ioniq 6 lease, which I hacked with help from fellow hacker @XiDa, and was looking for another hackable EV. I had the Ariya, Blazer, Equinox, Lyriq, and Prologue on my radar. After research, I figured out that the Prologue was the most hackable option in August for a brand new vehicle.
Initial dealer experience: I test drove a Prologue at a PA dealer and asked for one-pay lease numbers. They came back with $15,600. I laughed and countered with $6,000. They said they were already losing money on their proposed deal and warned me that a potential $6K deal was likely a scam. I smiled, thanked them, and walked off.
My approach: I put together a precise, unambiguous, and actionable one-pay lease proposal and reached out to 20 dealers in PA and NJ.
Results:
Model Year - One-pay lease amount
2025 - $5,800
2024 - $6,941
2025 - $7,100
2025 - $8,218
2025 - $11,800
I spoke with the dealer who offered the lowest amount on Thursday and tried to beat it the following week, but wasn’t successful.
I’ve learned a lot over the past couple of years. Big thanks to this community!
I tried to build a calculator link but it’s giving me weird negative numbers. Once I figure it out, I’ll update my post. Here’s the signed deal link:
Hi, may I ask a bit more detail about this? So what I gathered from lease hackr forum is that I gave the dealership the OnePay price I would like to pay and list of discounts that I qualify and ask if they can match it. I live in California and looks like the lowest I can get with discount is $8000 OnePay for the same car, what else do I miss?
Yes, make a clear, precise, and actionable offer something like “ Hi I am interested in leasing 2025 Honda Prologue Touring AWD; Stock No #XXXXXX. Here’s my offer: $8000 including all taxes and fees for X term / X mileage. Mention your zip and credit rating.
I put together a precise, unambiguous, and actionable one-pay lease proposal and reached out to 20 dealers in PA and NJ.
What do you mean by precise, unambiguous, and actionable? Did you just cold email the sales departments at each dealership? Would you be willing to copy / paste the email as you sent it?
I’m in SoCal. If I could find something even close to your deal, I’d sign today.
What do you mean by precise, unambiguous, and actionable?
Something like “ Hi My name is thehomie. I am interested in leasing X car (make/model/color) with Y term and Z mileage. I am looking for XXX/month including all taxes and fees or XXX one-pay lease. If these terms are agreeable, I will sign and pick up the car today.
Did you just cold email the sales departments at each dealership?
I contacted via both call and email
Ideally a stock number or two included with the email gives more of an appearance of, “I’m ready to go and have done the research and I will be a quick painless sale” so let’s go!
Thanks for the response. I messaged Jon, who you linked, and he said nothing similar is available at the moment given demand and dwindling inventory. Hopefully that changes, because I’d show up asap for the deal you got.
I think tomorrow I’ll blanket email all SoCal Honda dealerships with your terms and see whether anyone can come close.
Separately, how do you like the car now that you’ve had it for about a month? I’ve heard mixed feelings from 2 friends re steering and general build quality. I’m easy with pretty much anything if the price is right, but the missus is a bit more sensitive.
I decided to take a flyer on finding a Prologue today down south and I couldn’t even find a midrange model in this price much less a touring. You really got a hell of a deal on this one.
