Went to test drive an F-150 Lightning at AutoNation. Sales guy was great, asked us to give them a shot. We agreed on a deal via text after some back and forth. They confirmed the vehicle from a sister store and set a same-day appointment.
While I was on my way, I got a message saying there was a “system glitch” and they couldn’t honor the deal anymore. No real apology — just told me to go elsewhere.
Any recomendation?
Not much you really can do - dealer won’t honor the deal and there’s no way to force them to honor it
Move on to the next
And leave a detailed review online of that dealer (probably not the sales guy’s fault)
Was the deal too good to be true? This sounds to me like someone who didn’t know what they were doing trying to stack a purchase incentive with a lease or combine employee pricing with incentives that didn’t stack. Somebody probably just made a mistake and it got caught by a manager before it could become a bigger problem.
