Just took delivery on an amazing deal for a new 2025 CX90 PHEV car had 100 miles on it as sales rep was going thru reviewing features in vehicle went to start it and received the following error car is bricked and has to be towed out of my driveway needless to say I had them rip up the lease paperwork and keep the vehicel back to square one.
Congratulations on unwinding your Mazda lease! Best of luck shopping for its replacement
I think instead of free charging at Electrify America, EVs should come with free AAA roadside insurance and car rental for when they inevitably fail.
Sorry to see this. What was the deal you had?
2025 Premium Plus PHEV, I had 9.5% off MSRP, 8MSD $3,000 taxes tags and $352 month
Can’t they just put you into another one?
I’m sure you won’t want another CX-90 PHEV, but that deal isn’t too hard to replicate with brokers.
Good luck in your search! Really unfortunate situation
I can replicate it for less with this months additional incentives I have ZERO desire to step into another PHEV thank god it was my driveway and not somewhere else car shut off and is completely bricked. I used to sell cars in another lifetime never experienced anything like it and just want anyone else considering one to be very aware as the issue isnt fixed and my understanding it is happenin gwith over 50% of them
You couldnt pay me to take a new one want nothing to do with PHEV
Welcome to the club. My friend cx70 phev is for 45 days in the dealer lot for the same reason. Based on them, they are unable to fix it.
The Lemon law case opened yesterday. It will take up to 90 days.
Now he is driving a cx5 loaner and expecting additional compension for driving less expensive car.
…….source?
Check out the CX-90 Reddit page. You’ll see hundreds (literally) of people who have had the same malfunction and also many other issues. This model has single handedly made Mazda’s Consumer Reports rating absolutely plummet.
True but the Lyric and Blazer scored even lower.
If the odds were as bad as OP is saying, we’d be seeing more Ultium lemons on this forum. However, even a statistically less reliable car doesn’t give you a 50+ percent chance of getting a lemon.
I had and voiced my concern. The dealership said it had only affected the 2024’s and it had been resolved. That there weren’t issues with the 25’s clearly not the case and IMO Mazda should not be selling these vehicles god forbid I was on the road or had small kids you couldnt even shift it to neutral it’s very unfortunate. I just don’t want anyone else to find themselves in that situation. Tow truck just returned it to dealership
So the dealer wanted to put me in a CX70 said they have no issues with the 70 PHEV, I said no offense but I dont trust any of them its the same systemin the 70 & 90. They should not be selling them its a serious safety risk.
My dealer had a second case like that, and they internally at the dealership level stopped selling them until they can fix it to avoid similar cases.
