2025 BMW 2-Series Gran Coupe and 2025 Nissan Murano

I miss the days when re-designs were introduced w/ a lot of fanfare. ::sigh:: If the makers didn’t see much of a reason to make a fuss, I’m fine combining them into the same thread (but, other mods, feel free to split, if you wish).

Murano: https://www.motortrend.com/news/2025-nissan-murano-suv-first-look-review/

I think the GC looks better than its (very awkward) predecessor, but it’s not exactly attractive. I also am so over the backlit trim that’s so en vogue at BMW and Audi. The version we’re getting first seems very equipped (shocking for a German car), but it’s also $43K (!). I think I’d rather get a base 3-Series.

The Murano looks a lot better inside and out, but use of the same platform (which must ancient) and (unsurprising) to VC 4-cylinder (w/ NO improvement in fuel economy) makes this a fail, IMHO.

One looks like an Accord and one looks like a CRV.

Congrats Honda!

Is the 2-series the least noticeable LCI in the history of LCI?

The article(s) refer to it as a new generation (incl stiffer body structure), so I don’t think it’s considered an LCI!

My spidey senses always go off when I read the wheelbase just happens to be unchanged. At a minimum probably no change in platform, but i suspect this is more of a significant refresh than a full redesign (kind of a 2025 Camry sort of thing).

I’m personally over the following:
gigantic screens
a toggle switch instead of a gear shifter
no buttons
ugly “aero” wheels

The dash looks a little better than it does in the new X3, and at least it appears to have a sunroof that opens, but current designs (not just BMWs - in general) make me wonder if I’m going to purchase the X3 in 3 years when my lease is up, just so I can have a somewhat “normal” SUV.

Im scared to see how the X5 comes out. I think the F15 (2013-2018) was a step back from the E70 before it and the G05 after it. The G05 was a fantastically designed replacement which I think will still look good ten years from now. It’ll be a shame if they lose some of the classy feel of that vehicle.

They put more effort into this new 2 than the new X3 smh

It automatically engages Park when the car is turned off.

Whhhoooaahhhh!!!
