2024 XC90 Recharge Ultimate

So we are debating whether to out right buy or lease a new 2024 XC Ultimate Recharge. Numbers as follows:

Purchase Price: $78500
Taxes/Tags/Registration: $3586
Freight: $1157
Out the Door (Total): $83243

Lease MSRP (10k/3Yrs): $70271
Taxes: $3214
Fees: $2000
Down: $1306
Residual: 53%
Money Factor: .00349
Monthly Payment: $1306

Volvo is offering $7500 incentive for a plug in hybrid (lease only). IF we lease, our plan would be to buy out the lease 4 months in. When I do the math it appears to be $4500 - $5000 savings. My concern is that we have never leased and IF we would run into any issues buying out the lease 4 months in.

Anyone bought out their leases 3-4 months in? If so any issues? Did you pay rent charge for the complete duration of he lease if you bought out early?

OR should we just buy the car outright and not stress the lease to purchase route?

Any input or feedback on the our situation would be appreciated. Thanks

  1. 1306 a month for an XC90…that sounds bad (There might be a lot of mark up hiding in there)
  2. Why not lease it for a month and capture $7500. Sorta no brainer.

Thanks guys. The dealership is telling me I would have to wait 3-4 months before I could buy the lease out. Has anyone done it sooner with Volvo? Say 1 month?

the dealership is a moron. it can be done when your account funds.

That’s for loans so they don’t get a chargeback.

There’s not much to stress over. Just keep your paperwork showing you’ve already paid sales & use tax in full.

See you’re tagging VA – if you’re in Northern VA, more than likely worth the drive to NYC metro (or I’ve seen some good pricing out of MD dealerships). The Northern VA Volvo dealers pricing was insanely wild when I lived there (I’m talking $9k more expensive than what I negotiated from CT/NY/NJ dealerships for identical spec cars, precovid).

Aronchi’s pricing is generally close to the lowest you can get - worth the drive up to NYC area.

Sort of off-topic but given Volvo’s all-EV business model - is it safe to assume that this is the last gen non-fully EV XC90? Especially since its been largely the same car since 2016-17.

Depends on the incentives, they are regional.

Good point, but in my experience, NoVA Volvo dealers dont really come off sticker (before rebates). Could have changed though - I left VA 3 years ago

Volvo never sold at sticker until covid.

They’re advertising discounts on their websites (Beyer, Lindsay) so they definitely sell below MSRP. Hell there have been myriad deals posted from multiple NoVA stores here with good pricing. I got invoice on my 2022 XC60 T8 Inscription when avoiding a dealer markup was tough.

They’re likely just saying that so everything is kosher with DMV. Wait until everything is good there and the account is funded and you are good to buy it out. Dulles is the best store for service IMHO (and I loved my buying experience there).

Sounds like they’re more willing to negotiate than they were in 2019 (or with me at least)

Took a quick peak and looks like they’re offering more of a discount than they were when I shopped them in 2019. Lindsay was offering around $500 off sticker + rebates on a xc60. Off memory, beyer was a bit cheaper than Lindsay but not by a huge amount. Ended up out of state for $4k dealer discount + rebates.

I would buy out any lease that had a money factor >4% APR
