That vehicle has some interesting proportions and is on an interesting timeline to say the least.
Palluride twins about to blessed by Toyota and Lexus (their getting this version call the TX, same platform, production line, just appointed differently).
That’s what I thought.
But based on highlander might not be that spacious
Highlander size with increased C-pillar back vertical volume expansion.
Its enough to offer the illusion of space, without digging into the Sienna customer base.
“Grand” Highlander?
Just call it the Highlander L like the “Grand” Cherokee.
Or the Highlander XL?
Im surprised theres enough space in their portfolio between the highlander and the sequioa to need this
There basically attempting to become a CUV for all mantra company without directly stating it. Even though they also own the sedan market.
So far only the c-HR has been a flop. Land Cruiser is coming back next year (surprising due to the global waiting lists but not since one of their key volume markets basically disappeared).
I think Jeep had to go L, seeing how they already tacked on the Grand bit. Regardless I agree that the
grand bit on the highlander is silly.
The 3-row BOF market is much smaller than the 3-row unibody market.
What’s really surprising is that Toyota virtually invented the premium CUV segment with the Lexus RX and then did nothing for 3 decades
The 3-Row BOF market is basically some version of this in the NADM.
Toyota, Ford, and my favorite Jeep can try all they want, but they aint conquering this bad boy.
In global markets, ironically Toyota rules with an iron fist, in sales volume.
Another soccer dad vehicle. Yay. Thanks Toyota. How original of you.

I’m trying to figure out difference between updated GX550 and the new TX.
I wondered about this. I think they are replacing it with the Corolla Cross but I see tons of C-HRs in SoCal… maybe it was a flop elsewhere.
Instead of a Grand Highlander, should have made a HIghlander Prime.
CHR was introduced as a “subcompact SUV” but was only 2WD at the time.
It was also less spacious inside than the first gen HRV, IIRC.
Why can’t toyota make good looking vehicles?
If the GX is BOF (body on frame) and the TX is unibody, then the TX will be a lot more spacious inside relative to exterior dimensions.
Yeah… CHR was small but again, very popular in SoCal. We crossed shopped that vs a Juke/Rogue and ended up with the Leaf.
