2024 Kia ev9 wind awd, 36 mo 15k, $3k down, Minnesota

, ,

Hello and TIA.

Just crawled out from under a rock and found leasehackr… please be gentle.

Signed a lease for a 2024 Kia Ev9 wind awd a few months ago in MN.

I’m sure I didn’t get the best deal but it was the only wind trim in a 250 mile radius and the next one (singular) coming in was weeks/months away and I didn’t want to wait… ; elusive trim I guess. Anyway the wind trim was nonnegotiable since it was the only second row bench trim. Dealer wouldn’t budge so I bit the bullet and took it. Numbers have been bothering me nonstop so here I am…

My question is, how far up there did I get screwed?

Any Minnesotans mind sharing your lease numbers? Wind or other?

TIA

Credit well over 800
MN tax 6.875%
Down $3000
MF 0.00092 ~2.2%

Added following due to SO also driving:
Item F on itemized $999 Allstate service
Item J $929 xs wear

Welcome.

I rotated the images to make them easier to read.

The Allstate Service Contract ($999) and XS Wear and Tear ($929) are worthless. Can you cancel these for a refund in MN?

What was the MSRP?

What incentives / rebates were applied?

Was any of the $12,235.54 trade equity? If yes, what was the trade allowance and how many other offers did you get for the vehicle (Carvana, Carmax, etc)?

Post the first page. Can’t do a thorough job of analyzing your lease without having ALL relevant detail.

Thanks for rotating.

Not sure on canceling those, will have to see.

Msrp 66,990

At the time I think google/etc listed wind msrp @ 65,900 or something there; below 66,990 for sure. But there were none available within 250mi. I waited few weeks for it too. I came in with 63,500 but nothing. Could have gotten Land (1 on lot and 3 or 4 coming in) for same price but no second row bench…

Incentives/rebates/cost cap reduce:
9k total = kia 7500 + dealer 1500
Cash 3k to reduce monthly
No trade

Good news is you got exactly what you wanted.

Unfortunately based on the info you’ve provided it looks like you paid over MSRP (with the unnecessary protection products), and these were selling at significant discounts almost immediately after they came out.

Here is a link to search results for “EV9 Wind” that will give you an idea of what others have paid:

You’ll want to ignore the Colorado deals as there is an additional govt incentive from the state, and some of the older NJ deals may not have been subject to sales tax at the time (this has since changed for EVs).

Between now and when you do your next lease, do some more reading and research here to understand how leases are constructed, and which levers you can pull to optimize the next outcome.

And please cancel those add-ons if you can.

@trism tyvm I really appreciate the review and input!

So recap:

  • no extra add-ons and
  • push discount on msrp

Is there more?
Don’t know what I don’t know.

I’ve been reading a bunch, wish there were more MN deals to compare, lol.

This is among the better places to start to understand how a deal is constructed.

Learning this is more useful than looking at 5 leases done by other people in different months, even in your own state, because programs can change every month.

When you look at someone else’s deal, you can make adjustments in the calculator for things like registration fee and sales tax differences. Those things don’t matter because there’s nothing you can do about them.

But your question is really too broad to answer in one post.

That’s why there’s an entire forum on the topic of leasing.

Also, once you understand where the market is on your next car, pivot to making firm unambiguous offers. There’s nuance here too, you’ll pick it up with additional reading.

@delta737h I’m traveling so don’t have access to the whole thing, just the couple of pics I already posted.

What other info would you need? Maybe I can post it later.

Just the first page of your lease agreement. Thanks

@trism ty again! Off to do homework lol.

Here’s wishing we can distill all life’s different complexities down to bullet points.

You can also:

  • Hire a lease broker
  • drive the same car forever
