2024 Hyundai Tucson PHEV LTD - Amazon Leasing Experience - $2,300 in gift cards back - 36/10 $1.8k down, $457/mo

Hi all, wanted to share my experience leasing a new Tucson PHEV through Amazon Autos. Note that it’s extremely expensive/unwise to lease in Chicago due to an 11% lease tax on top of other costs, so the same deal elsewhere would be closer to $400/mo

My needs were pretty specific as I was looking for a leasable PHEV around $400/mo. I also wanted to go for 36 months so I have a while before I have to hunt again.

Here are the details:
2024 Hyundai Tucson Plug-in Hybrid Limited
*MSRP $46,950
*Dealer discount $5,000, reflected in Amazon Autos price
=> Sale price $41,950
*Lease cash $5,250 from Hyundai
*Additional $1,000 from Hyundai for car sitting on lot

*$1,833.64 down payment incl first month - made with Amazon Credit Card at 5% back

*$2,300 back from Amazon in the form of gift cards

36 months/10k miles at $456.73/mo (including 11% Chicago use tax)

Down payment = $1,376 excl first month payment, receive $2,300 Amazon GC back = Down payment covers first 2 months

Questions on the process? Would recommend again, especially with the lease capability on Amazon Autos now

I’ve never heard of Amazon Auto for leasing. Is it like True Car or something and acts as a lead generator to dealers?

Yeah its Hyundai Kia only. Think CostcoAuto sans rebates.

It’s only Hyundai at the moment and the key difference in experience may be all costs, rebates, etc, are upfront and finalized before you check out and once the sale is complete, only then do you work with the dealer to pick up the vehicle

TrueCar, Costco Auto, and others, always seemed to just refer me to a dealer to work and finalize price. This is a much better/different experience (for me) at least

What other online sites let you check out with finalized price before talking to a dealer at all?

That’s cool. Assuming then that Amazon is offering the gift card promo to incentivize use?

When was this deal done, January or this month? $2300 rebate seems to have ended on the 15th.

Purchased on April 9th, picked up 2 days after that..so no, got in right before the deadline

And dang, that stinks, would keep an eye out because Amazon always pulses offers like that

I forget the name of the leasing app that failed miserably, but this reminds me of it. Amazon is a giant though, so if they want to be aggressive, they can probably disrupt the industry a touch. It’s going to take heavy incentives to make it worthwhile though.

Are you thinking of Rodo? Which from the reviews here seemed to work about 5% of the time. Other than that, was bait & switch.
