2024 BMW X3 Lease thoughts

Hi all,

Just wanted to ask about the following deal I got (going in tomorrow to negotiate further).

2024 BMW X3 sDrive
Msport package
MSRP is 54,960
7.5k in miles
39 months
2.5k down (including drive offs)
578 + tax
Money factor is 00180 and 57% of MSRP is the residual

Please let me know your thoughts! Hoping to get payments down to under 550 with tax

What incentives do you qualify for? What pre-incentive discount is needed to get to $550?

It’s impossible to give you much unless you can share the full breakdown of selling price, incentives, etc.

Going to the dealer to negotiate is a huge no no, especially so if you don’t have all the details and don’t even know what you’re trying to negotiate to.

Based on my experience, I would not step foot into the dealership without a deal in writing that you want to sign. If $550 is your number, email the sales manger/gm and tell them you’ll sign immediately if they agree. By heading down to “negotiate” I’m fairly certain you’ll be in for a five hour sweat out and hard sales tactics that no one likes. Best of luck either way!

Thank you both for the reply!

Above is the details. I don’t think I qualify for any of the incentives but I’ve read in different places that for the 2024, they should do about 15-20% off MSRP. You guys think going in would be a waste of time?

Where did you see 15% to 20% off for a '24? I think the most aggressive broker deals on here are at 11% or so.

If your expectation is 15% to 20% off MSRP they are not realistic. X3s are still selling well. Dealers have no reason to fire sale them.

Reddit so the source may not be as accurate as I had thought haha

Not trying to be rude…just trying to be realistic. I’d like to see the contract if that person is saying they got that much of a discount. Often times people omit some important details. (i.e. it was pre-covid on a loaner…lol)

You’re currently at almost 12% off MSRP. That sounds like a fair number.

No 100% you have a great point and appreciate your input. I guess I will see how it goes tomorrow haha

There really isn’t a reason to “see how it goes”.

You’re at almost 12% pre-incentive discount plus rebates and base MF. Not going to get much better on an X3 right now, that’s a solid deal.

Basically the only reason I would set foot in the dealer tomorrow is to sign the deal if you want the car, not to negotiate any further or see how it goes.

I agree with @j_e_f_f … if this is the car you want tell them you’ll take it and go sign the papers tomorrow.

I don’t know what else you’ll achieve by going in tomorrow to “see how it goes.” The price is reasonable, the only reason to not go forward would be if you’re still not sure this is the car you want.

Not sure you have the right strategy here. Any car that’s worth driving falls into one of the following categories.

If you followed strategy A, you’d spend ~$25k on this lease, return and spend another $25k to lease again? $50k+ spent and no equity… on a car selling for essentially $46k?

It sounds like you are advocating for option C, which would cost about $825 for 60 months. OP would likely be underwater at the end of 36 months when free maintenance runs out. Probably still underwater at 48 months when warranty expires. At the end of 60 months OP will have spent about $50K and own a 5 year old vehicle worth about $20K. What if the OP can’t afford or does not want to spend $825 a month on a vehicle?

Maybe they were including all rebates. So not really that much off MSRP.

Hi all,

Ended up going in today and got a deal for 593 for 36 months with $2.5K down. They ran my credit and told me to come in tomorrow to finalize the deal (paperwork etc).

Just got a call from them that they sold the car in the other dealership…? They are offering me another car (exact same car just a different color)… Is this normal? Im so confused on how they can run my credit and then say the car is sold? has anyone ran into this issue before?

It happens. Did you put a deposit down for them to hold the car for you?

Is the car they are offering with the exact same specs at the same MSRP as the initial car you were negotiating?

That is shady as hell. So is telling you to come back tomorrow to finish the paperwork. I suspect they knew the car was already sold and they went and found you another one with the exact same MSRP in order to not lose a sale.

I would tell them no thanks unless they make it worth your while to come back in. No dealer lets a customer walk out the door if they think they have a done deal.

Yes, that is the entire point. To not be in a series of unhacked leases so you are perpetually in a state of being underwater. And paying through the nose for it.

At these prices consecutive leases will lead to the OP leaving ~$20k on the table vs owning for 60 months

Thanks all. Yes relatively the same price but im honestly ticked off, because that is very shady. Im going to see if they can make it worth while

No deposit

Likely an honest mistake. The deal or overall MSRP hasn’t changed, so there’s nothing shady about it. Dealerships aren’t evil like so many make them out to be.
