Did you confirm with Ally if they allow lease transfers?

Per swapalease, Ally does not allow it:

Hi there, yes, my Alfa dealer told me that this is allowable and per the documentation on the Ally website, they allow one lease transfer from the original owner, which I am: https://www.ally.com/resources/pdf/vehicleone/vsc-transfer-form-v1.pdf

This is not a lease transfer form; they’re actually more detailed than that. Even BMWFS’, which is the gold standard, is about 3-4 pages. The link you posted is for the transfer of a “vehicle service contract”, which is basically the warranty or service plans you buy in the F&I office (when signing paperwork). Even says “Universal Warranty Corporation” at the bottom of the form…

In any case, if you verified with Ally itself (and not the dealer since the dealer has zero say in a lease transfer), good luck!

I would call Ally back and indeed confirm the entire lease can be transferred to someone else AND confirm that liability severs upon transfer.

I.e., if you transfer the lease, and the transferee defaults, Ally cannot come after you

I was thinking the same, but I don’t necessarily know either way. Transfer and Ally just felt odd to me for some reason.

OP - nice looking car.

Fairly certain Ally allows lease transfers, but only in-state. Or at least that’s how it used to be.

Back when I had 2 Giulias through Chrysler Capital I remember being mad that I wasn’t able to get them thru Ally for this very reason.

I called Ally this morning and they confirmed they don’t allow lease transfers—only adding an authorized user who can make payments on the car, but to the point @Bumboola made, liability does not sever so if the new person didn’t make a payment, it would hit my credit. So I guess this isn’t an option after all which is super frustrating as I’m making a pretty unexpected move out of the country and the dealer buyout leaves a ton of negative equity :sob:

Thanks everyone for your input, this was really helpful
