2023 Nissan Z is almost here!

“Only 1.1% of new cars sold in the US were manuals” which, if true, is quite sad and even lower than I thought (2-3%)

I think if manufacturers really stopped making lazy decisions, & made some manuals with good standard equipment & in “popular” cars & trims it can find enough volume to make it worth while.

I think BMW said several yrs ago that the only reason they still produce a manual in their M cars is for the US market.

Since the US won’t allow allow manufacturers to certify engine/transmission combos, there is really no incentive at all for them to con’t to produce manuals in any significant number.

Ah, the manual transmission discussion is back…

Does anyone see the similarity to the Tesla 3 in the pictures, particularly of the blue Z?

Absolutely not because the Z pulls almost all of its design quirks from legacy Z cars going back decades.

That’s what I’m thinking but it looks like the body is not sculpted like most modern day car, maybe too much of a throwback IMO or maybe Nissan is lazy again.

I think it works. Want to see one in person, but the Z’s have always been pretty modern looking for their times. With this new one I think certain angles it looks awesome and from other angles the lines seem to kind of clash. The more videos I watch though the more I really like this. Interior is OK, definitely not a fan of the two tone but love the analog cluster on the dash! If I had more driveway space, this would definitely be in consideration for me next year.

I’m not asking if you think the design came from Tesla. To me, some cars just seem to be homogenized in a blender these days

At some angles, anyway. Different story in person I’m sure. Cant wait to see it.

The arc of the roofline into the backlight for the two cars looks completely diff to me, personally.

It’s getting harder and harder to not copy past design aspects into new models…the basic shape of a car didn’t change that much in the past few decades. Personally, i think i would not confuse these 2 if i was really drunk…

I think it’s more the incredibly generic front end graphics of the z that invokes the lack of front end graphics on the 3

The only similarity I see is the rear quarter panel work. However, that is a very basic design feature to make your vehicle look aggressive and sporty. I’m not surprised Tesla went with wider and bulgy fenders on their cars to give that “sports sedan” look.

The front area is a little similar, but there are a lot of past Z cues in the upper bumper and headlight design. I think the fronts are coincidental.
