2023 Ford Explorer ST discount?

, ,

BTW, I just want to see @BMES305 get a great ride for a cheap price lol. Hope he got some big discounts.

I contacted around 30 dealerships up and down the east coast+ showing big discounts online. When it came to actual quotes not a single one would honor their listed price. Best I got was 10% off before rebates after negotiating a few weeks with that SM. It’s possible there are better deals out there, just sharing my experience.

I guess that’s one good thing about California, the fines and legal headaches around deceptive advertising practices (bait and switch or not honoring a listed price for a specific VIN) are pretty well enforced. You’ll see a lot of “call for pricing” here, but you won’t see some fictional number used to entice someone.

But I do agree, FL is super shady. I’m amazed @djrabbi ever got EQS for a big discount from that state haha.

Waiting to see what the April numbers look like. I feel like time is in my favor right now.

That’s the best part about having the luxury of patience when car buying. These things are always depreciating, and now there’s a healthy supply flowing into dealerships. Literally the opposite of the housing market I guess.

With the case of CDJR dealerships, there’s probably too much supply haha.

Looking forward to seeing your ST!

It looks like the April numbers got worse. Go figure.

OMG

And Midway still has 18 of these 2023 things aged to one year getting dry rot on the tires and watching their front and rear seals crack in the Florida heat. Nice.

Yeah, it doesn’t make sense. I will be hitting them up for sure. Their showing a 10% discount on their site. Lets see if they will do more.

Numbers run through today, not sure where you’re seeing new numbers.

I checked Edmunds but hope I’m wrong though.

@BMES305
In case you are still looking, the MF for 2023 Explorers is basically zero this month.

Midway still has that red one in stock since they’re bag-holding to the extreme. So this thing should be dirt cheap compared to last month. But then again, FL dealers suck. Good luck.

What kind of discount on the ‘23 ST’s do you think is appropriate? Local dealer is advertising $3K discount, but with the near 0 MF…might be a good time to negotiate. They have 8 ‘23s so they might be motivated.

@Leaselurk thinks the transaction price on a ST AWD should be 12% off of MSRP, but I feel like on some of these seriously aged units, there should be more discount available.

Like that Midway Ford link (red ST) above, they’re advertising 11% off MSRP before certain select rebates. So I’m sitting here thinking for the buyer who will sign/drive today, they’ll take quite a bit more off.

But since @leaselurk actually spoke with dealers in FL (who apparently all suck), 12% off could be a huge win since they never honor their advertised pricing.

Personally, I think this Explorer is just 90% parts content shared with a Ford fleet special explorer. So I can’t really tell why someone would pay so much for it. 12% off doesn’t feel like enough of a discount on inventory this aged.

PS, I want to see people start to get some good deals on ICE cars. So tired of the EV-frenzy and all the deals being government and corporate subsidized rolling EV junk.

Can your ice car keep up with a trackhawk???

Your bus can keep up with the Trackhawk once it breaks down.

Maybe at this time of year there would be more dealers willing to play ball on 23’s. It’s not a terrible car but really needs a tune to get your money’s worth on it.

Note for NE hackrs, this MF only applies in the south. The MF in the NE region is over 8%.

Edit: Southeastern PA zip
