2023 Defender Deal

Would love some feedback…

New 2023 Defender 110 S
Msrp $72k
Dealer discounting selling for $68k
No markups, no dealer add-ons
Finance Payment around $1100 all-in, zero down

Good deal?

I have a nice 2020 cayenne that I financed new, payments are $700 / month which is great but it has 40k miles now and I don’t want to hang on to it too long and become upside down the value.
So I’m thinking of grabbing this defender and selling the cayenne. What do you guys think? Should I just keep the cayenne and hang on to those low payments for another 1-2 years? Or grab what seems like a good deal on this new defender?
Thanks!
New here!

Doesn’t sound like it.

If it’s $68k and no money down, there’s a massive markup on the money factor to get $1100 a month.

They’re making up for the discount by jacking up the lease payment

$1100 per month is the finance payment.
Lease was horrific like $1300.

But to purchase a Defender for $4,000 under sticker, and drive it for a couple years, seems like a decent deal? That’s how I’ve been thinking about it but it sounds like you guys don’t agree.

We don’t really talk about RRs on LH. It’s for people that don’t care about money. You want to play? You got to pay. $4k is a good discount on the Defender. As good as it will get.

Honestly, a $4k discount on a Defender is good. I think I have seen up to $6k but likely on a higher spec. If you want to put in the effort, you might be able to find a retired loaner somewhere and see if there is any leverage to get to better lease #'s vs finance.

Lexus GX - look at how much Land Rover is asking for the V-8

Why finance a Land Rover 4-pot

It’s a good looking car but not worth it imo- also reliability is so-so

Just stop it with the Lexus lol. No one shopping for a LR/RR is going to contemplate Lexus as an alternative option. And imo, all Lexus cars are ugly af - glorified Toyota’s

The new 24 GX is taking that fight to the defender, the current GX was designed to take the fight to the LR3/4. 3row, V8, family hauler.

2nd Gen GX anyday over LR3/4 poop.

paging the Defender king @mattevan

Ok - drive your financed Land Rover 4-banger - ya big dummy

Key word - financed -

The only people shopping for the 4-banger LR are the image conscious fools

Lease and flip is a different story

Get your money up and buy the V-8 or step up to the big boy

And 20 years from now it’ll still run.

From someone who owned a 2023 110S and just sold it for more than MSRP, I’d say the deal is solid. However values on the Defender are dropping and I think will drop even quicker in the coming months. If you’re interested in owning one for a low cost of ownership, look for a lower MSRP ($65-67k) one and try for the same discount.

I’ll chime in as a former Lexus and Toyota owner.

IF you plan to own anything for a long time; and to myself and likely many of the LH crowd, 5+ years is a long time… I’d definitely shoot for the new Lexus GX coming out. You can guarantee the quality is there, it’s less likely to be back in the shop, and you’ll maintain a much higher residual value when you resell it.

Financing a NEW LandRover is just a waste of your hard earned money.

Yeah you’re mistaken about me. I drive the full size and have had multiple Rover’s with no issues.

Some people don’t care about engine size and actually like the way the car looks and feels.

Not sure why people like to shit on cars they can’t afford.

Cool. If you are the type that wants to drive a car for 20 years, get a Toyota ehem… I mean Lexus.

That’s a very subjective comment about how Lexus look. The new GX and LX are gorgeous rides. Shoutout to the new IS as well… it may not be as fast as it looks but it sure looks fast.

I don’t own a Lexus anymore but I admire the quality and service.

No kidding.

= In My Opinion.

All the comments about the LR here are subjective as well.

“Afford” - ok big guy - go on and justify a raspy 4 cylinder engine for $70k

You should be looking at it from a value perspective- not nameplate

The best part is you can buy a new one and its the same as the 20 year old ones too

Not sure what makes you think I am justifying a 4 cyl LR. I’m not the OP… I’m simply saying that comparing a Lexus to a LR is not warranted. They cater to two completely separate buyers. Really not a hard concept to wrap your head around that every product has a different target market…

There are people in the world, especially outside of the LH world, that are not value based bargain hunters. Some of them just want what they want and are chasing the best possible deal to get what they want. That’s the reality.

LRovers are lease machines - wouldn’t recommend them as a buy

How come so many on road with one daytime running light out?

The 130 does look nice
