2023 Audi S5 Convertible - Deal Check!

,

Good day!

I am looking to get some advice on if this is a good deal for a 2023 Audi S5.

I ordered this S5 convertible custom build to order the last week of May and it just hit the dealership today.

Looking to do the following:

24 mo. lease / 10k miles
$3,162 down (Includes $995 FL dealer fee, taxes, title, tag, etc.)
Selling price: $68,905
Monthly payment tax in: $1197 (Includes base MF no markup)

Includes discounts of:
$3,000
$1,000 rebate
$750 dealer cash

Options:
White/Red
20" sport wheels
Premium Plus

Thoughts on this deal? This would be a 3rd car for the wife and I. We currently have a 2021 Model Y Performance (Wifes) and a 2022 Model X LR (Mine). We really wanted a nice 4 seater convertible and this was the best between C-class & 4 Series.

Any thoughts are appreciated!

Note: MF was lowered and annual milage is actually 10k, not 12k as shown in screenshot. Actual 24 mo. payment comes to $1197, not $1217.)

What’s the MSRP? On the surface this looks atrocious.

MSRP: $70,975

What makes this atrocious? I need to make a decision within the next few days, so any advice is appreciated!

Effectively $1300+ for an S5 is probably what makes it atrocious. Looking at some brokers its right around that.

You’ll be paying almost 43k for a 70k MSRP car for 3 years, 10k miles. If you really want it, finance is better.

This is a 24 month lease which comes to about $28k in lease payments of $1197/mo.

Not sure if this makes it “better” but I don’t want the car for more than 24 months.

$1,200 per month for a $69k S5…that sounds crazy to me.

I would imagine this is a car that makes more sense financing, but if you’re not married to this make and model, you may want to explore other options. Might be able to get an M440i a bit cheaper for example. I’m not exactly sure where the market is on these cars. For that price you could get an M550i though, an infinitely better car (albeit not a convertible).

As a 3rd car with very little miles put on it, it would be assumed you will keep it for more than 2 years as a buyout, etc. You can lease something else for less money, but after all who really “needs” a convertible at all - let anyone a 4 seater?

My wife drives the same car (2023) and we bought it. Skipping the lease was a no brainer, we will keep it maybe 3 or 4 years at most and have decent equity when unloaded with a max of 20k miles on it. As it stands she has 2800 miles on it in 7 months.

You want a convertible to mess around with on the weekend? Skip the back seat and get a Miata.

There are no deals on S5 convertibles. This isn’t bad. A broker may be able to save you a few bucks. It wouldn’t hurt to reach out to a broker.

Just 60 of those payments will match the price of the car. Meaning you have a leasehacker score of 5 years. The whole point of a lease is to have a lower car payment in exchange for no ownership. You’re not getting that. To be fair, the discount is good. It’s just that performance convertibles are terrible leases outside of the SL class. For example, its technically possible to get a an SL55 (150k MSRP car) for the price that you’re paying for a S5. It’s not likely but still.

The m550i is one of the best performing car for the lease price right now. 0-60 in 3.6 seconds for 1k a month. There’s also the m240i which is 0-60 in 3.6 as well but less luxurius and allocations are hard to get. Its also around 800 a month for a 55k car vs 1k a month for a 90k car.

Buying and reselling in 2 years will likely put you ahead assuming it has low miles and you shop around . Leasing companies just won’t take the same risk at the same cost hence putting a premium over these .

Seeing as you can have a $130k e-tron GT for the same or less per month… BAD DEAL.

What’s the urgency? Generally, I wouldn’t recommend making hasty financial decisions at this price point

Summer? He probably wants to drive the car without having to wear gloves.

He ordered the car in May.

If you have Costco, they just threw another $1500 on S5 convertible. Of the three cars in this class - AMG E53 conv, BMW M4 (M6 now discontinued), and the S5 convertible, the Audi will have the best lease programs. As others have said, it’s probably best financially to go through a broker and buy it, and then sell it later.

$1275 a month for a 350hp 4 seater convertible? barf. Whats the regular one go for? If you’re mostly wanting it as a convertible I prolly wouldn’t bother with the slightly bigger engine that still won’t make it all that sporty.

I mean I wouldn’t really put the S5 in the same class as the M4/E53 - its the RS5 that competes with those two. So it makes sense that the S5 would be cheaper than the other two.

Thank you for this!! I missed the $1k discount back in May for this program. Excited to see they brought this back, and it’s now $500 higher.

I’m really looking for a luxury convertible. I’m past the “I need a fast car that makes loud noises” stage in my life. I had a 2015 M3 & 2018 S4 and between the Model Y Performance & our Model X, we have plenty of speed.
