2022 Kia K5 GT-Line with Premium package

I’m in VA, zip 23831

Kia Dealership is trying to get me with $995 transport fee and a $995 add on package that they say all vehicles come with along with a $595 doc fee. Also the MSRP they have at 29,645. Mf @ 0.00160 which I think is high and $650 acquisition fee.

Hackers: what’s a good deal for the 2022 Kia K5 GT-Line with Premium package?

Thanks

What did edmunds give you for buy rate?

It is practically impossible for us to tell you what a “good” monthly payment is for your specific lease as lease programs are highly dependent on region, personal qualifications, tax rates, etc.

We always recommend the following method before you ever contact a dealership. If you do all of the work up front, you’ll have a stress free dealer experience and set yourself for success.

  1. Read Leasing 101 (EDITORIAL | LEASEHACKR) to understand how to calculate a lease payment and the variables. Monthly payment is an output, not an input!! While you’re at it, be sure to watch the LH video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jjgvLxqcLfA) to brush up on how to most efficiently use the resources here.
  2. Pick a specific vehicle that you want to target
  3. Gather the current MF, RV and incentives from the LH Calculator - Lease Program Query or Edmunds forums for your zip code
  4. Research the LH marketplace and other deals that have been made recently on your vehicle - what was their pre-incentive discount? How did their lease terms differ?
  5. Plug your numbers into the LH calculator (CALCULATOR | LEASEHACKR), and use a pre-incentive discount similar to what you have seen
  6. Create a target deal, this is what you’re trying to negotiate to. You can try different terms, selling price discount, etc. and see how your monthly payment is affected. It is also possible that different trims of your vehicle may have different MF and RV (i.e. this is very common with GM), so make sure that you look into that. Come up with a set of inputs that give you the output that you want - your desired monthly payment.

With a target price determined, you now have a deal to pursue and compare dealer offers against. More importantly, you have a solid foundation to work from.

Thanks. Edmunds has 28685 msrp and 29445 before incentives. I did research and that’s why I ended up walking out because my numbers were off.

Taxes 1338.67
599 doc fee

The RV is at .65 which is good

Their total with everything came to 31,740 monthly payment of $489.45

For AWD also

Please review the instructions above.

The only useful information from edmunds for this discussion is the rv/mf/incentives gathered in step 3 by posting on their forum and requesting them.

I asked one of the mods in the Edmunds forum a few days ago, and this calculator on their site (https://www.edmunds dot com/calculators/car-lease.html) should automatically fill in the correct RV, MF, and incentives for your zip so you don’t even need to ask in the forums anymore.

Also, most of the Kia dealers I’ve looked into recently in MD, PA, NJ, and DE are adding a $4995 market adjustment on the K5 on top of other fees and addons.

lmaooooooooooooooooooooo

For some reference, I’m looking to buy one, and financing $31,248 with $0 down for 72 months it would only be $460/mo including taxes.

Back in May I was looking at getting the K5 GT-Line MSRP was between $29k - $30k. We had dealers offering $250/month.

You may also want to look at the Hyundai Sonata. Dealers are more likely to discount that model. We ended up going with the Sonata at a higher trim and lower monthly payment.

This seems very unlikely with the current lease programs with out a large down payment or cap cost reduction.

Unfortunately, things have changed a lot since then

Don’t want to take this thread to far off track, but does the Sonata have a trim that equals to the K5 GT-line? The N-Line compares to the GT, I wasn’t sure if they had a sportier trim with the 1.6T engine. Would that be the SEL Plus?

$250??

Even in regular times I believe that deal was too good to be true. Even before all this nonsense that would have been unreasonably low.

Hyundai seems to have dropped the Sport trim from the sonata line and moved their sporty trim up a bit in performance.

We ended up getting the Sonata SEL Plus for $245/month with $2,500 out of pocket.

The K5 was at $253. I used Costco to get these deals.

The K5 GT-Line and Sonata SEL Plus have the same 1.6T. The K5 GT and Sonata N-Line share the same 2.5T.

How do you like the drive?

I like the exterior better on the K5, and the interior better on the Sonata. If they’re equal in performance, I could be happy either way. Final choice might come down to which one isn’t being ridiculously marked up over MSRP. Lot more of the Sonata in stock around here, and some have been sitting on the lot for a while. Though the one K5 I really like has been listed for 106 days, so maybe I can actually work a deal on it.
