2021 Porsche Macan Lease thoughts

Hello, I am first time buying/leasing the car. I just wanting to get some extra thoughts and opinions on a 2021 Porsche Macan base lease deal or better off just buy the car instead of leasing it.

MSRP $65,720
Sales price $62,720
MF: 0.00240
Residual: 60% (39,432)
Down Payment: 5000 (includes 1st month payment, all tax, doc fee, registration fee)
10K/39 mo: $763.34/month

Thank you!

General consensus here is buying is better than leasing.

Look at that MF. I’d bet after 3 years of leasing that you would have paid 60% of the MSRP in payments.

Porsche is notoriously horrible for leases, purchase and finance or purchase a slightly used one and finance; both are better options.

Buy this instead of stripper base version

I calculated the break down.

((763.34 x 38) + 5000) = 34006.92 / 65720 = 51.75% MSRP.

I searched that macan depreciation rate after 3 years is 57.74 % residual value.

I know lease will going to cost more but also have the flexibility than trying to sell the car after 3 years. Therefore, I am wondering if this extra $$ worth leasing it.

Thank you

Thank you for your advice. We custom ordered the car already. I am just debating to whether leasing it or buying it. Is it easy to resell or trade in after 3 years?

Thank you for sharing the info. We custom ordered the car already =)

You should confirm the residual/MF/incentives with Edmunds

4.3% discount, 5.76% interest/rent makes for an awful lease. :speak_no_evil::-1:t2::-1:t2:

Depends on how well you keep it and number of miles you plan to put on it, but if you were planning to lease the car, having around 30,000 miles on it at the end shouldn’t be a problem to sell at all.

How did you arrive at 57.74% residual after 3 years?
Make sure u take the sales tax into consideration if buying and calculating the delta lease vs buy

Irrespective of the buying vs. leasing decision, this deal seems especially awful.

A .00240 MF is marked up from the .00200 base, so adjusted to base MF the deal is really only 2.5% discount. Walk away.

I love Porsche’s and have leased/bought several over the years, including 2 custom orders. But this is a base Macan, not a new Turbo S. Is there a reason you have to custom order, with this one particular dealer?

Cast a wide net, go find one on the lot, shoot for 6-8% discount at base MF, adjust to 39 or 42 mos, and the lease will look much better.

buy one, they hold their value very well. You can get a great rate thru credit union.

My wife wants specific exterior and interior color. We tried to find the one on the lot but couldn’t find the combination. Therefore we ordered one. Thank you for your advice

If we bought it, do you recommend to add on the packages? (Tire & rim protection, dent protection, Pre-paid maintenance, film/ceramic coating)

Thank you

I used this website for the estimation. It actually comes out to be around 60% after 3 years. I used the MSRP to calculate.

That is 100% up to you and your situation.

I personally maintain my leased cars and I personally ceramic coat all my cars because they’re easier to wash, which I do myself as well. But I enjoy doing all those things.

what is your diy ceramic choice?

All up to you - depends on the cost and your appetite for taking care of things yourself. I had a Porsche with 21” 911 Turbo II wheels… took it in for service once and rep comes back and tells me - you have nails in 3 tires :face_with_symbols_over_mouth: I still had to pay for the 4th (can’t just replace 3 worn tires) but the tire pkg paid for itself right there.

Can’t go wrong with Cquartz UK 3.0 with Gliss topper.

CarPro Cquartz UK is my go to. Pricing on low end, and top end quality. Lasts at least 1.5 years with worst care, no garaging, salt and sun.

Also use it on glass and wheels. Windshield coating is a must for me.
