2021 Mercedes E450 Deal Check

New York Registration

Vehicle msrp is $70,695

Good deal or something is not right ?

Check the RV and MF on Edmunds forums, and specify whether sedan or coupe as the numbers are different. Also, consider applying the $4500 toward MSDs rather than down payment. It won’t lower your monthly payments as much but you will get it back at the end of the lease, and you wouldn’t be at risk of losing the MSDs in the event of the car being totaled.

My only issue with the MSD is that once the vehicle is returned, the dealership has the control as they can charge whatever for excessive wear and tear and can just take the money out of the MSD, correct or ?

From my understanding, starting way back November 1st 2019, dealers no longer can perform the excess wear and tear inspection rather Mercedes-Benz USA utilizes a third party called AutoVin. They’re way more strict as in years past damage that would otherwise have been overlooked will now deducted from your $500 waiver if this is your follow up Benz.

Whether you put down MSDs or not, you would be responsible for paying for excess wear and tear. If you put down MSDs, the excess wear and tear charges would be deducted from them.

But it just occurred to me that you’re in NY so moot point if you are leasing from a dealer in NY.

Thanks so much to both of you for the input and advice

The returning dealer has no idea if you put down msds or not.

Hmmmm that’s interesting to know, so who then will issue the MSD back? Is the the financing bank? My only issue as I don’t want to have the money in a limbo like $5k and the dealer can feel free to charge off whatever they feel like on the MSD once I do return but since you say they don’t know that’s a good thing

MBFS holds the MSD, and they are the ones that return it. Unless you lease another MB after returning, they just deduct the disposition fee from it. If you have significant wear and tear, or lost keys, that’ll come out from it as well. After 3 MBs, the return process hasn’t been painful. You get a check in 30 days.

Your lease is between you and MBFS. Generally it’s not even the dealer doing the turn in inspection and assessing for wear and tear.

We get lots of people worried about msds and turn in charges but I’m yet to see any evidence from anyone of this ever happening.

Learning about this scene every day thanks to people like you. Thanks again

Maybe I’ll reconsider my deal due to the MSD

I used MSDs on my last Mercedes lease and after the Autovin inspection came back clean there were no issues with getting my MSDs back. Except for a bit of a delay which necessitated two phone calls to MBFS, I finally got the check about 8 weeks after my return. The rep there said it should not have take that long but could not give an explanation for the delay.
