Is this a good deal? I think it’s kind of expensive for what it is

Before everyone jumps all over you, I think you answered your own question. Hard to tell without mileage amount but this deal looks OK given what is currently a very poor BMW leasing market. 500 in incentives is less than stellar.

Also a bare-bones X1 loaner is probably not what you want and probably won’t make you happy at an effective monthly payment approaching 500 post tax

Thanks. I have to get a high mileage lease (15,000) because this car will be driven quite a lot but I don’t know if it’s due to the chip shortage but BMW leases suck! I was thinking max $350 for this car

But luckily, this car isn’t too barebones, it’s just missing one package from it being fully loaded (which is nice)

You’re getting 13.6% off for a new? That’s pretty good. There’s just no incentives to speak of. You can add MSD’s but it’s too late for PenFed, OL or BMWCCA at this point. If you look in the marketplace, you’re not far from where u need to be. GLWT

says loaner on title, maybe OP can clarify.

It’s an ex-loaner with about 5,000 miles?

Your numbers don’t quite add up, it should be around $370 before tax. calculator

This is a screenshot between me and the dealership

Ah, then you’ll want to clarify exactly how many miles it has then. Will affect your residual (and payment). As a loaner, you probably have a bit more room to go… but how much more will be up to you and what the market is dictating

Here’s the new calc with the right residual, but fees and loaner miles are unknown.

Dealer screenshot shows 10K miles. Confirm the mileage, 15K will be a big residual hit, increasing your price further.

I had X1 for 2 years, I would never pay that much for it. $500/mo is Audi Q3 territory, which is a much nicer vehicle.

I beg to differ rusty!!! For those taller folk, the X1 has quite a bit more headroom than the Q3, which can feel cramped. With the premium package, LED headlights, and stereo upgrades, the X1 is sharp looking with the standard quality BMW interior. (FWIW the highest trim of each the X1 and Q3 look great, while their base models leave a lot to be desired)

With 5000+ miles you should shoot for at least 15%. I believe that I remember seeing in a recent broker listings that specifically sDrive X1 and X3s are still being discounted aggressively, so you should be able to negotiate as if these were normal times, given that detail

[Edit: This :point_down:t3:is the post I was referencing]

Feel free to shoot me a DM if you want the details on the X1 loaner I negotiated last year (Or you can search through my posts). We got ~3k mile sDrive loaner at 41.5 MSRP, which had Premium Pckg, LED headlights, and Sport seats (which I highly recommend compared to their base seat). Here’s the Spec:

At 39.3k, I assume you have only convenience and maybe heated seats/steering? Definitely not fully loaded, which is probably 43k+ for an sDrive

Lol, different strokes and stuff.

Curiously enough, my experience is a total opposite: Q3 feels much roomier inside and a bit taller. Sport seats on X1 were so stiff, when took it back to dealer after 3 weeks of Q3, I couldn’t believe how stiff it felt to just sit on it. Like seating on a board compared to Audi seats. Base stereo was pretty bad, Q3 base stereo is far superior sounding. Interior-wise - there is no comparison: Q3 wins hands down, X1 is just dated. Ride is much better balanced, X1 was too stiff in that regard as well. The RFTs didn’t help at all. The only thing X1 did better is engine noise: it was definitely quieter.

That’s interesting. I remember reading this article, which I thought did a good job highlighting the differences. The better drive is surely the Q3, although the X1 is faster. However, as you can see at the bottom, The X1 has more passenger volume, and I certainly felt that in the front seats…I think this has to do with the more rounded shape of the Q3 compared to a boxier X1. I am 6’2 with broad shoulders though, and felt extremely cramped when we test drove the Q3. In regards to the seat, I feel the bucket seat is necessary as I don’t find BMW cornering to be that great in either the X1 or the X3, which I have, and find myself constantly sliding side to side on sharp turns. And yes, RFTs suck.

I think the interior styling is simply preference, and I agree that the HK audio is the only way you can even begin to compare against the Audi Bowers/Wilkins, which I believe comes standard.

You probably are right, I haven’t compared dimensions. I’m not a big guy by any means, but to me Q3 fees roomier. Might be just my misjudged perception. The comfort of the front seats though, it’s a night and day, that I can attest to.

Agreed on interior preference too.

As for audio quality, after X1, I was fully considering 3K technology package just for premium audio. I told myself that I’m gonna carefully listen how base audio sounds, and then I will get tech package with Bang & Olufsen. I sat for like 20 minutes in parked car during test drive just evaluating base stereo. I was blown away how much better it sounded. Right then and there I saved 3K.

I wouldn’t pay over $400 for a base X1, you’re just buying the badge and not much else

Base stereo on X3 is meh, but I only listen to BT from my phone, so custom equalizer on the phone, and turns out the base speakers and amp are perfectly fine, it’s the audio processing that sucks. I suspect the same may apply to X1. But I wasn’t trying to recreate a concert hall either, so …

I’m the type of person who would rather drive a loaded Honda than an empty BMW, but unfortunately there are situations in this world where equipment is irrelevant but the badge is. In some professions where the clients see your vehicle (real estate for example), a badge is important to project success, if your kids go to private school you don’t want to be dropping them off in a clunker while everyone else is in luxury brands (and I’m not even talking about schools for celebrity kids)… Not saying that $400 for a base X1 is a good idea, but a badge is a badge
