2021 BMW 330i Xdrive questions Central NY

In central NY there is a 330xi sunset M sport at my dealers lot for 130 days now, Msrp on their site is $53345, what should I offer in terms of discount in percentage or even amount? thanks in advance!!

They can afford to wait, I doubt there is gonna be much room for negotiation.

You could aim for 10% off MSRP with base MF. However, be prepared to be shot down.

what pre-incentive discount target have you found when researching comparable vehicles in the shared deals and market place listings?

With that said, in the current market, I would assume anyone that has inventory that aged is either not negotiating at all or the vehicle has a problem with it (or it’s a loaner)

You can build the vehicle on autobytel and it’ll show you the invoice. You need to input the correct add ons though

With that said, invoice is a completely irrelevant number.

We don’t go by invoice pricing for sales. Take MSRP, less the current market discount (or whatever you are trying for), less incentives and that will get you the selling price. That is what matters, not the invoice price.

Well, perhaps a better start to answering your question would be “what do you want to use it for?”

Invoice doesn’t represent the point where the dealer doesn’t make any money, so using it as a floor doesn’t matter. It doesn’t inform anything in the calculations for pricing, so it doesn’t help there, etc.

Occasionally you’ll get some people that will quote a deal as “invoice minus $500” or something like that, so it might help talk the same language in those cases, but you can achieve the same thing by looking at discount off msrp.

Ultimately, the numbers that matter are the MSRP itself, as you need this to calculate some of the lease costs, and the pre-incentive selling price that you’re trying to get to. That’s tied much more to what the market is doing than to what the dealer’s cost structure is.

Ah ok, that makes sense, so in your opinion a unit that has been on a lot 132 days, on the dealer website for $53,345, with 500 loyalty & 1500 lease incentive, if I offer 10% off that, do you think its fair or realistic?

What brand is this mystery car? In some cases that might make sense, in many cases it’s a good way to signal to a dealer you aren’t serious about making a deal in this market.

Keep in mind, you can make an offer as realistic as the Internet thinks, but the GM might say no.

It is practically impossible for us to tell you what a “good” monthly payment is for your specific lease as lease programs are highly dependent on region, personal qualifications, tax rates, etc.

We always recommend the following method before you ever contact a dealership. If you do all of the work up front, you’ll have a stress free dealer experience and set yourself for success.

  1. Read Leasing 101 (Blog | LEASEHACKR) to understand how to calculate a lease payment and the variables. Monthly payment is an output, not an input!!
  2. Pick a specific vehicle that you want to target
  3. Gather the current MF, RV and incentives from Edmunds forums for your zip code
  4. Research the LH marketplace and other deals that have been made recently on your vehicle - what was their pre-incentive discount? How did their lease terms differ?
  5. Plug your numbers into the LH calculator (CALCULATOR | LEASEHACKR), and use a pre-incentive discount similar to what you have seen
  6. Create a target deal, this is what you’re trying to negotiate to. You can try different terms, selling price discount, etc. and see how your monthly payment is affected. It is also possible that different trims of your vehicle may have different MF and RV (i.e. this is very common with GM), so make sure that you look into that. Come up with a set of inputs that give you the output that you want - your desired monthly payment.

With a target price determined, you now have a deal to pursue and compare dealer offers against. More importantly, you have a solid foundation to work from.

There is no such thing as a generic OTD price, it’s unique to your situation.

Plug the following into the LH calculator after MSRP of the vehicle you’re looking at:

Selling price based on % pre-incentive discount found by searching Shared Deals and Marketplace sections of this forum.

RV, MF and incentives (lease cash) from Edmunds forums. Add any extra rebates you qualify for (college grad, etc) under incentives.

DMV fees and taxes based on your state’s official website.

Voila! Now check the box to make it $0 DAS and offer the resulting monthly payment*

thanks i got those numbers, of course im planning this in November so hoping to earn as much as possible from this community.

With current inventory shortages and minimal incentives on new leases, putting a deal together today for November will not be useful. There is a lot that could change between now and then.
