2020 Range Rover Sport vs BMW X5

,

New to the forum,

In the market for a new SUV. 2017 Audi Q5 lease is up soon. Want to get some real world feedback on what leasee likes / dislikes about the 2020 Range Rover Sport and BMW X5.

Also, what type of deals in available for either SUV in the metro NY area. The X5 I wanted is coming to around 72K MSRP.

Thanks in advance for the feedback.

@D_L1 I just went through the same decision. The X5 will lease better, but I preferred the drive, fit/finish of the RRS. So, that’s what I got…

If you’re interested in the best deal, get the X5. Also, as several people will tell you, the Land Rovers May have more issues… I’m not sure yet, as I’m 3 weeks into the LR/RR journey.

Good luck with your decision.

I am the first person to make a RR joke, but I love everything about the RR sport EXCEPT the payment. If that was my budget (or I swung for the Section 179 deduction and gasp bought it), I would come to enjoy the taste of the RR service department coffee. I would never complain about how many loaners I farted up.

I think you could easily lease a loaded (full merino leather interior is a must, MSport, larger wheels, all packages) X5 40i for less than a base RRS.

Of course, it’s not a Range Rover, but IMO the BMW is nicer. Faster, better technology too.

I just dropped off an X5 for a Range Rover Sport… The tech in the RRS is very good. Has all the same features as my X5 and the Duo Screens are not only sleek, but easy to use with all the touch screens.

I do agree that you can fully load up a X5 4.0 and your monthly lease will be less than a low optioned RRS. In fact, the X5 M5.0 will be close.

Btw, I should add that a lot of the options for BMW are standard on the Range Rovers.

Don’t look at the RRS for value, only do it if that’s what you really want, but know that it won’t be a good deal.

Problem with BMW is the standard has zero features outside of your basic bluetooth lol.

Thank you for all the feedbacks. What is a realistic payment range for a RRS? A 73K MSRP X5 leases for around mid 700 with 0 money down. I heard LR dealer doesn’t give much discount if any. That could be one reason why there is more X5 on the road than RRS.

Just test drove the Range Rover sport and Range Rover today. Both car has a nice drive to it. But once the sales gave me a quote. I see why people on this forum says LR don’t discount. RRS HSE $78,000 7500 miles per year, 6300 DAS 1030 a month.
RR $100300.00 7500 miles per year, 7500 DAS. Almost 1400 a month. I wasn’t sure how serious he is but I don’t see how it was that much better than the X5. I like the RRS, but I’m probably fine with a reasonably loaded X5 and invest the balance in a vanguard ETF.
