you’re on the hook for it if the assuming party damages and/or goes over mileage. NMAC holds the original lessee liable on transfers…

Thanks. I can buy a damage waiver, but can’t do much about the extra miles.

Or if he decides not to pay.

I thought the person assuming the lease was on the hook for the payment. For the damage and miles, definitely not. It’s risky to transfer a nmac lease

Yeah, not a great idea to transfer for the reasons stated above. As for the deal itself, $250/mo seems like a lot for a car that retails for $19k…

How do I get out of this thing. I’m stuck for 3 years like it or not?

You don’t lol. You’re stuck with the liability

A lease is a binding contract, that’s how it works. Caveat emptor…

c’mon guys. there’s got to be a way

It’s less than 3 weeks and the car has less than 50 miles on it. any way to negotiate with the dealer?

Check the contract first. Talk to the dealer, if you must. They’ll probably do nothing, but who knows - maybe they’ll let you slide into another car. As for getting out of it after taking delivery, chances are extremely low. Sorry, I know the feeling sucks, but maybe you can still find a use for the car?

I think the questions on everyone’s mind is why to you pick this vehicle to begin with and why do you want out now?

Good question. I made a hasty decision and realized that I got a really bad deal too late. I don’t like the way the car drives and the monthly payment on top of that is way too high.

What type of thing should I look out for on the contract?

Maybe put it on Turo.

Let someone pay you to drive it. Then maybe keep shopping it on 3rd party sites like Caravan, Vroom, etc.

Thanks for the Turo idea. I wasn’t aware of that. What do you mean with regards to shopping it on 3rd party sites?

Swapalease.

Besides all of the risks involved, why would anyone want to lease it from me when it’s just an average deal that they can pick at any dealer?

In a few months see what you owe to NMAC on it. Then go to those 3rd party sites and see what they might pay for it.
