2020 Lexus NX300 run around

Might be a long post. So a dealer in Broward gave us a deal on a NX300. We went to pick it up and they don’t have it. Found one at another dealers and the first dealer made us a better deal to stay and wait for it to come in. They told us a week. Then mid week they call us and tell us it’s going to be another week. Called yesterday and still they don’t know. They say it’s in Jacksonville which was the same story I heard last week. Wife really doesn’t need the vehicle but she’s had to postpone stuff and now it’s to the point we’re the dealer doesn’t know when it’s coming in and wife can’t keep pushing appointments back. The first dealer said they would pay for a rental but what if they change the deal when the vehicle comes in to offset the rental. All they gave me was a Lease Retail Order. Pretty much an order to hold the specific vehicle. Is there a way to locate were the vehicle is and not take the dealers word for it. At this point it’s been the worst experience I have had with a dealer and I have owned over 40 vehicles.

Sounds like they don’t have an actual car to sell you and they are/were banking on a dealer swap, but that didn’t go through for whatever reason. Personally, I’d find the car you want at a dealership you’re willing to go to and buy it there - lot cleaner deal than banking on your dealer finding the car you want at another dealership and also banking that the other dealership is willing to do a dealer trade.

They do have it coming. I have the vin for it. Problem is everything I stated above.

Have been generally shopping around New York and contacted a Lexus dealer about the UX250, they only had one in stock but said they would be getting more in September. I did not follow up because not that interested but I think it is a systemic problem

Check their inventory online, if they have very few cars then that is your answer

If it’s their car (not a dealer swap) that makes it a bit better. If they can give you a loaner/rental and they can put in writing the cost of the car and that it won’t change, my thought process is that they will likely honor it. Only possible thing I can think of is if delivery happens in September and the lease/purchase incentives change and they can’t use August numbers, but that might not be an issue if you have the order for the car in in Aug.

I am also afraid of this. Incentives are only good for 30 days. So if the NX comes in sept they can change the deal. Remember I am not locked in to any deal right now. All I have to go in is that they keep their word and as it is they are supposedly at a negative $850 on this deal.

:mage::crystal_ball: mystery deal…

Personally, with the information provided, I’d move on to other dealerships that are within driving distance and try to use this deal to get a same/better deal on a car that a dealership has in stock. You might have to drive a bit for the deal, but other dealership should be able to agree to a price before you go in person (whether it’s via email or via phone)

The second dealer is a Lexus Plus dealer. They don’t negotiate it they have been the cheapest from all the others.

The mystery deal is 36/15 $772 DAS $417 a month

Wait for the mystery car or do what @ctnyc says. This dealer is playing games with you, if they have a sold unit I doubt that Lexus would jack around with getting the car to the dealer, move on.

Might have to go a couple hours outside of your metro area to get a dealer that isn’t Lexus Plus and won’t play games with you, or settle for one of the two dealers that you already contacted.
