Brought this home today. We are downsizing cars. From a 2018 MB GLE and 2019 Lexus ES 350 F Sport to a single CUV. When it becomes inconvenient, we will lease another car. For now, one works.
I am well aware that the same money gets many alternatives. We settled on this car, then shopped the deals. This is the best we could do without extraordinary efforts. Shout out to Mrs. for her contributions to this deal.
Congrats! Thanks for sharing this extra data point. It’s very helpful for those in the market for the same ride.
And I will try my best to avoid mentioning you coulda gotten this particular SUV that starts with “X” and costs about the same, provided you live in the Northeast, currently own a car from that make (or brand that’s been defunct for nine years), have a Costco membership, and you happen to be a medical professional, teacher, or first responder…
2019 Lexus ES 350 F Sport 9,900 miles for $37,550
2018 MB GLE with 13,200 miles for $37,200
Left me $200 short of payoff on the ES and Mrs. was $750 shy of breaking even. We thought it well worth it to avoid tires and dispo fees.
So we go from well over a dime a month in payments and insurance to a nice half of that even including the $90 a month for insurance on the Santa Fe.
We’re just not driving much in this new and different world but we are taking more road trips. So cheap and reliable and feature-laden were the targets.
We were shocked at how the used car prices have made this possible. It’s a great feeling to hit the reset button early and basically without penalty.
Congrats! We were pretty set on the Santa Fe, the Ultimate 2.0T FWD in particular, liked it a lot. But at that time, the leases were pretty nuts, so we were looking at purchasing it. In the end, we decided to go far more conservative on budget since we had a baby on the way and went with a Tiguan S lease.
Thanks! We wanted orange or red over grey; however, having both the 2.0 and Limited as non-negotiable made it kinda hard to find. Forget about AWD around here. So we ended up with black over grey. Pics in trophy garage. So far we’re loving this thing. So many more features than our basically stripped GLE had.
Will go check out pics. We were looking at white over black. I like black on gray too, good choice. The orange is probably very hard to find. Can you imagine any dealer actually stocking that? It’s a huge risk, even though you or I may like it.
