2020 Honda CRV - EX - Need input, purchase

,

Hello All,

I know this forums in primarily for leases, but hoping that someone can chime in regarding what would be a reasonable price for a 2020 Honda CRV - EX, this vehicle would be purchased. I am trying to be under 30K OTD, with everything rolled in. So far the only numbers I was given from local Dealerships is $31,500 OTD. Not sure if Under $30K is attainable. I have been searching online but cant really get a good answer.

Where are you located and what is your tax rate? I’d be surprised if sub 30k is going to happen. I did a quick search for the cheapest EX I could find advertised in NJ (27,492 advertised price) and just with the 6.625% tax alone I’m at $29,313 without doc fees, DMV fees, etc.

Thank you for the link

Long island NY. Tax rate 8.625

Jersey dealers seem to be offering higher discounts, but you pay the higher doc fee there. I suppose the best play would be to see if you qualify for/can stack the loyalty or conquest incentive with something like college grad or military and get a NY dealer to match your best Jersey price, saving on the Doc fee. Might be able to squeeze under then.

That’s the problem, I only qualify for one of the $500 incentive. Non of the dealers on LI are willing to play ball, I though with the pandemic they would be more willing to negotiate, but the lowest that I got so far is 31.5K. Going through the CRV forums, I see that people are able to get under 30K, but not that many of them.

Inventory has been an issue in some places. You may need to expand your search. DCH Kay Honda in Eatontown NJ has 26 CRV EX in stock currently, and they are all advertised for significant discounts online. We did have a particularly infamous LH member get taken for a bit of a ride there on a lease, but it sounds like you know what you want and have your ducks in a row so it might be worth looking into what they will let one go for.

Thanks for the help. Will give them a try and see what happens

Also try internet price from DCH Paramus and Nanuet.
Around 26k should work.

Registering in NY, NJ?

It will be registered in NY

DCH Paramus quoted me $27,280 including destination, however after adding 699 doc fee, 350 reg and taxes, it comes out to $31.2K, not where I need to be.

Reached out to the, they said we will get back to you in a few days, even after I told them I am willing to do the deal today! I guess they don’t need the business now.

That’s an interesting response… There’s tons of Honda dealers though, someone needs to hit their targets somewhere.

That’s better by $300 or more if your dealer is willing to beat it.

Hamilton Honda has 58 EX units in stock. They have usually been good to deal with in the past.

its a honda …never more than msrp out the door
take advantage of ahfs borrow 140% and invest the overage to cover a couple of payments

Just a quick update. After contacting multiple dealerships, within a 100 mile radius, no one was willing to play ball. It seems that Honda has not been affected by this pandemic at all. I’ve heard, not sure how true, that the MY21 have not come out yet, and they are not sure when that will happen. I guess that would explain it. Anyways, probably will see how their competitors are doing, Hyundai or Toyota, maybe even VW. Thank you all for your input. It is greatly appreciated!

You’d probably get more standard features for the same money on the Hyundai (or Kia).

You can also purchase the “wrap” that extends the powertrain-only warranty for years 6-10 into a more comprehensive one.
