2020 BMW 2-Series Gran Coupe (next great leasehack?)

I kind of like it, but I’ve always liked smaller cars. I just can’t see anyone actually buying one, especially since a non-poverty-spec version will probably be high 40’s. Maybe a great leasehack next year?

I thought BMW was going to make less iterations of cars?

They’ve already had this in China for quite a while right?

I hate myself for saying it because I absolutely loathe this continued trend of calling literally everything with even a slightly swoopy design a ‘coupe’ but…I kinda like it. I’m into the stubby chunky design of it. The rear could’ve been executed much better and it should absolutely have a liftback rather than a traditional sedan trunk but I’m into it.

If we can hack an M235i for <$300 (a boy can dream) then I’m ALL in!

Looks like the BMW and Toyota design teams are hanging out together a little too much after the Z4/Supra collaboration

At a glance it shares resemblance to the Corolla.

How can Audi and Mercedes make cars in this class that carry the family resemblance while BMW can’t?

Looks like a chunkier, stretched out ilx. I oddly like it.

That ugly C pillar that flows with neither the trunk nor the roofline is a very Honda thing

Looks like a Buick Verano. Hatchbacks converted into sedans don’t look right.

Competition to the A3 Quattro

This looks ugly AF. Sorry for all of you who think it’s good looking

There is no good looking subcompact vehicles that are sedans. Personally, I think they look much better as hatchbacks.

I’m not a fan since it’s built off the shared FWD mini platform instead of the awesome RWD platform that the 2 series coupe is built off of. I’m sure it’ll sell like hotcakes as the defacto loaner car.

I think you’re right, these will end up as loaners as I’m not really convinced it will sell.

The traditional market for this…a certain demographic that cares about the badge over anything else, is more likely to want an X1/Q3/GLB right now- and the handful of people left that are still interested in this segment….the 2020 CLA is better.

I predict we’ll have some morons paying $600 a month to get it immediately and then it’ll settle back down to hackrworthy territory. Hopefully!

I can see why BMW brought it here. They don’t have a 4 door sub-compact vehicle to compete with the A3 and the A-Class / CLA. It’s just a shame it can’t be more akin to the F20 hatchback.

Also, should we just be thankful that the grille isn’t taking up the ENTIRE front end of this one too? I guess they’ve gotta leave something for the 2nd gen.

Also, also…not my observation but from Jalopnik and it finally clicked what it reminded me of…the latest Kia Forte but uglier? Yeah, yeah I know all new cars look the same blah blah but this is actually pretty same same but ever so slightly different.

Reminds me of Kia as well.

comment of the year!!!

I will let you know whether I think it is sexy or ugly when I see the numbers …

Ford focus with beemer badge.

I love the side profile, but the front just looks low end. Would I still drive one? Probably if the price is right
