Sales tax and title $2,385.22
Its been dificult to get the dealership to provide me any detail on the sales tax and title. From my calcs…NJ sales tax should be 1,312 which means they are charging the title fee to the tune of 1,073.22. Does anyone feel like this is high? From reading the NJ dmv site, tags and registration should cost 4x84 = 336.
They have not been able to provide any support for this number and point to the fact that they use a service to come up with these numbers.
Any suggestions on how to move forward? Or any of my above calculations?
I’ve heard that other MD dealerships also use third party, which raises registration fees. Just ask for breakdown. If they miscalculated the tax you will get it back, and there is probably extra $300 on registration. They may also do 2 years registration.
Speaking to the dealership all they pass down to the consumer is the fee for the 3rd party registration service which is apparently like 60 bucks. And nj requires 4 years of registration on new cars which calculates to 4 annual fees of 84 each totalling to 336. They claim there is not fat in the registration number.
I was guessing at what the $2,385.22 was. The payment reflects on acq fee being financed. Shaggee is looking for clarification of what the $2,395.22 could be. I’m saying the acq fee could be part of it, and maybe some of it is a prep fee or something else. I don’t know what tax and title is in NJ. What about license fees?
@Shaggee - What else did they say was due at signing? If the $2,385.22 was tax and title, did they mention the acq fee along with the MSDs? Anything else? Like you said, something isn’t adding up.
We have a T6 in Florida and the dealer offered $10k discount off 2019 models if we moved up from our 18.
Also check 30 month rates. I think they come out better than 36 or 39 for some reason.
Think the offer was 62k msrp, and 1700 due at signing including first month at 545.
Hope that helps if at all.
Thanks so much for clarifying my MST question. As far as the money factor, I was just trying to see if there is a way to verify the number, that way I can tell if the dealer is marking it up if that makes sense.
