I’m currently in negotiations to lease a 2019 Volt LT and asked them to send me a breakdown of fees. I was actually fine with the deal (I know it’s not the greatest) until I caught the “Amt Applied Upfront” fee. This bumps my monthly payment up by $40. I asked my broker to explain what this was and was told that this is a registration license/tax fee.
Any suggestions on how should I approach this when speaking with the actual dealer tomorrow? Should I ask in writing exactly what the fee is? Or am I just not accounting for something?
As always, thanks in advance for comments/suggestions. Located in LA, CA
(Apologies if I’m not doing this right. First time sharing a deal, please let me know if I need to post this elsewhere)
That deal is so full of dog dodo that it’s not even worth answering anymore to that broker, seriously you Should consult with someone else even if that broker removes that bs fee
I’m pretty sure that’s just bait and they included the fed rebate (and possibly the state rebate) in the calculation. Best thing you can do is ask them and clear the air.
any idea why it’s leasing so bad when discontinued? Does GM not want them back in 3 years? I was considering one as I’m looking at plug-ins and a quick skim of Edmunds made me walk away.
It looks like there is better discounts on the Bolt this month as opposed to the Volt. However the Volt has a better purchase price on it. @jeisensc you are probably right - GM is not looking forward to get back their Volts after 3 years.
The Bolt ev got cheaper when they took all the rebate from the volt and put it to the bolt ev.
it’s a great car but with limited inventory since they stopped production, they are not in a rush to sell a ton of them.
The reduction in the Federal incentive that gets passed along on the Volt/Bolt really hurts the ability to get a good deal on them. Makes sense for Chevy to focus their trunk money on the Bolt at this point to compensate for that somehow. The Volt is a great little car, but it’s unfortunately not worth the monthly payments without the state and federal rebates subsidizing it. I’m very happy effectively paying 230 a month for mine, but I never would have considered it at around 400 a month.
