I’m new to these forums, but based on my addiction to it, here is what I’m guessing our more experienced members will say:
Let me know if I’m right, boys!
@RaissaJ Your best bet is to try a 2018 if there is still lease support or wait until the end of the fiscal year when the MF drops. Also go to an autoshow. JLR usually offers 1k in autoshow cash (or they did last year).
1 out of 2 aint bad for a newbie. Just so I’m understanding this correctly (No sarcasm here, just trying to understand), the deal you got is over the 1% rule that is generally touted as the standard here, right? For instance, if you leased a 68k Evoque wouldn’t your payment be somewhere in the mid 600’s?
Also, from what I’ve read in other threads here, lease support seems to have ended for the 2018’s, but I’ll let someone else confirm that who has actual knowledge.
A lot of it depends on trim. There is a difference in residual between S, SE, and HSE trims on Velars (the higher you go the worse the residual). You can equip an S with the same equipment for the same price as an HSE for example but it will still have a higher residual. The 1% rule is almost impossible to do with ANY car. Most of the people who achieve it INCLUDING tax, do it using cars that are not in demand, usually dealer demos, and have crazy incentives on them. Not to mention that tax varies by zip code, and some states like Oregon don’t have sales tax. The deal I got was the “1% rule” if you exclude tax. You will not be able to do the 1% rule on just any vehicle during any month as numbers and incentives change monthly for most brands. As per your Evoque, I doubt it- but also why on earth would you want a 68k Evoque?
No. Some cars the best deal can be 0.5% and some can be 1.5%
There’s a $2000 incentive at the moment, so you’re only getting a $1,750 dealer discount (which ain’t much). Need to see the breakdown for that $2000, plus the residual and MF.
I can confirm lease support has ended on the 2018s. Trust me I’ve tried.
Thanks for the explanation, makes sense. As to my thoughts on the Evoque, reference this deal posted by NYClife a couple days back on an '18
Not 68k, but the payment was also in the mid 5’s.
I have no idea how he’s doing this given that there is no lease support for 18’s. This is not typical and most likely a one off.
could be different bank
