2019 Subaru Forester

The Unveiling of the All-New 2019 Subaru Forester!

All new? All old. Disappointed…

“Spectacular, isn’t it?” said the guy and received lukewarm applause.

The response from the audience could not have been more tepid.

Also really enjoyed the camera angle that had a Honda sign in the back…

There are many great things they added, but calling the same old body “all-new” and “spectacular” was something. Will wait for 2020, maybe that will be all-new.

I haven’t read the details, yet, and to some extent it doesn’t matter. Being in Seattle, they could have slapped a Subaru logo on a U-Haul box and it would print money for them.

It is much improved and a great car, but for someone who’s had the same body for the past 9-10 year it’s not exciting to jump on it. But they will sell well.

Yeaaaaa. I literally clicked on that link and wondered what changed. It really is an all-new car?

I waited with a lot of anticipation for this release, as I was seriously considering a Forester.

It is a new platform, everything is all new. the styling is very similar to years past, and is certainly not spectacular, which I can even live with.

What is a major disappointment is the disappearing of the XT. the 2.0 turbo is gone. That is probably going to keep me away.

Check out the new Rav4, they made a better Subaru for 2019

No XT anymore? They put new 182hp engine in there. I hope they use the all new 2.4 from Ascent (260hp and 277 lb. ft of torque) as replacement for XT.

I hated the outgoing model, and it looks like this one is equally as awful IMHO. The only nice aspects I see are a roomy, comfortable rear seat and luxurious doors. The dash is absolutely awful and the front looks like teeth that need braces.

You don’t buy a Subaru for its looks

Why do people buy Subarus? The Forester was noisy, slow, and had poor fit and finish/ interior quality. The panoramic sunroof was nice but you can get that on most small SUVs now.

AWD, safety, dependability. Also - roomy, good cargo space, great visibility. They have much better interior quality and features now, than on 2009 MY, for example.
And on 2019 they said they added safety and other features not found in other under $70K cars (for what it worth).
Oh, and for the great resale value.

^This. We almost ended up with a Forester XT Touring and probably would have had we not gotten the deal we did on the X1.

No XT, no care!!!
202020

Say what you want but I am coming from 20 years of driving premium/Luz cars and I am actually excited about this car, am I missing something? Styling is subjective but I think they are on par with features compared to most brands in that price range.

Like I said before, after 10 years of the same Forester I wanted a redesigned body. I think they put all new technology in the old body and 2020 will be actual redesign.
If it’s your first Forester, then it’s an absolutely great car.
P.S. can’t stand these new wheels.

I’ll stick with my 2010 after seeing this

I’m seriously debating about trying to get a 2018 Premium XT leasehacker style with the current residuals and rates.

Not sure if I can get enough of a discount to make it attractive, but I’m seriously considering, although it may be foolish.

what other spunky SUVs are out there that aren’t in the luxury premium space? Those look either small or pricey

I’d just buy XT instead of leasing. If it’s the last Forester XT then resale value may be even higher than normal.
