2019 Mercedes A220 - $399/Month VS 2019 BMW 330i - 369/Month!

I had to take my 340 in for service last weekend and was given a new 330 as a loaner and I must say I was very impressed with the car. It comes with a lot of standard tech that isn’t available in my current 340. I’ve only seen and not driven the A220, but I wouldn’t find it very hard to believe it is better in any way shape or form from the new 330.

I commute in LA- when do I EVER get to drive 60?

I saw an A class on the road today. Definitely a very small car. I just checked and my old teeny tiny mazda 2, which fit a few grocery bags and some junk at best, was twice the size of that A class cargo.

A-Class is best leased for 16-19 year old girls with fathers who don’t mind paying 600+ a month for a new Mercedes for their daughters.

Wait - I missed this somewhere. The OP hasn’t even driven the car? How can someone even start negotiating before he or she knows what it drives or feels like?

A lot of people buy new cars sight unseen.

This thread Should be titled how crappy is the A class lol … it should be pinned so that anyone looking for one can immediately change their mind lol

I mean, if you’re an educated consumer & you’re buying a luxury car for $34k, you should know what you’re really getting.

The A class is a perfectly fine car… If it leased for $200-$250 and $300’s for the faster ones. It’s basically for someone who is done leasing a Jetta, wants a fancy badge and has decided not to follow EVERYONE ELSE and get a CUV.

I’m sure some of the nurses at the hospital I work at could be tempted out of their fancy new BMW X2s if the price was decent. We’re a while off from that happening though.

X2 > A Class every day ending with Y.

I consider a Miata “tiny.” No doubt the A-Class is small, but < 9 cu ft for the trunk is pretty ridiculous. I think my 190E from 1989 had 11 cu ft in the trunk (obviously, crash standards were diff back then, etc., etc., etc.).

And yet that car is still 23" SHORTER than an A-Class…

Totally agree w/ what you wrote… It’s just a shame those folks don’t look at the GLI, which I imagine blows the standard A-Class out of the water…

whoa, i’m checking out that GLI now… it looks awesome!

WOW the GLI Jetta looks very sexy. But it’s a VW, not really a Luxury car that goes against Mercedes/BMW/Audi though. Does it drive fast like a Mercedes/BMW?

I guarantee you the GLI is faster than most sub-compact luxury cars. You’d need to be at a 330i at the very least to come to the same performance.

A GLI autobahn has virtual cockpit, heated seats, leather seats, premium audio, sun roof, and comes with similar technology as luxury cars.

Being BMW and Mercedes doesn’t automatically mean it’s the best…

WAIT. No. This isnt real right?
People actually think a badge on the front makes a car faster? Whaaa

You Americans have been spoilt with your bigger engines only. In Europe you could get a 316i with a MIGHTY 114 bhp and the old A class with uhm 59 bhp.

So yeaaaah, Just because it’s German, absolutely doesn’t make it fast.

You can drive any car fast. Getting back down to 0 without a collision however is key.

True, it’s not a real luxury car like an A class

Test drive the cars you’re considering. Only you will know what you’d be happy w/.

I haven’t driven a GLI (or a GTI), but, based on my plain Golf, I imagine a sporting version of that platform would be very enjoyable indeed.

The new GLI apparently doesn’t dilute the performance parts of the GTI in the way that past GLIs have. I’ve seen one on the street. I thought it was a bit garish (I hate dark grey wheels), but there aren’t too many sleeper sedans in the $25-30k category, so…

The luxury being paying all those wonderful incremental costs just to say you’re in a Benzo
