2019 Lexus IS 300 Lease Evaluation

I’m being offered a 42 month, 10k miles per year lease on a 2019 Lexus IS 300.

$39,800 MSRP
$550 DAS (first month payment, and registration transfer)
Monthly price: $365 (taxes included)

I’m hesitating a bit on the 42 month part, not sure if this is a good idea or will it end up biting me in the ass at the end?

Do you want a 42 month lease for some reason? You need some more information to be able to judge the price better - like sales price, MF etc.

The IS was a good car a decade ago. I’m personally way too fickle to contemplate leasing for that length of time.

That’s a good deal but locking in for 42 months? I didn’t know the IS could be had for something in the $3’s, and when I see the lease programs on Lexus they are usually stingy with miles at 7500!!! Try to get it below $350 if you aren’t feeling the $365 I’m sure they can work with you.
Is this the last model year for the IS? I feel a change very soon, I think the IS has a timeless look though.

42 month isn’t so bad on a Lexus with B2B not expiring at 36 months. More likely to need a new set of shoes on it though at grounding.

Getting it under that monthly is what I’m trying to do. And I don’t think it’s the last IS model, it’s being said that the next one which will probably be out within a few years will have BMW’s engines. Since Toyota partnered with BMW on the new Supra.

If that’s valid, why don’t tons of Toyota cars have a Subaru boxer engine? They partnered with Subaru on the 86.

They’re allot more than partners, Toyota owns 16% of them. They scooped up some of what GM ditched back in 2005. I always like pointing that out to Subaru lovers, it really confuses them.

That right there is why I automatically gravitate towards 24 month leases, all else equal (which of course isn’t always the case). $1000+ for tires can really alter the overall deal.

which state is this in?

I have an IS currently and I had to change the tires on it about 15,000 miles in. I put on BFG comp 2 all seasons. For the price they’re probably the best tires out their.

Its in fl.

Nobody wants a Toyota with a Subaru engine… But IS owners would definitely want BMW engines in their cars, I’m sure!

I’ll buy you a steak dinner when the IS has a Bimmer straight-six under the hood.

The main selling point about Lexus, for me anyway, is quality. I would expect that thing to never be in the shop.

With a BMW engine… not so much.

Doubt a BMW or Lexus will have any reliability issue when leasing unless you get a lemon but that’s with any brand

My IS 200t had two engine issues while I was leasing, first time at around 10k miles, and then again about 7 months later. The vacuum regulator valve to be specific. And in Japan it’s such a huge issue that they can’t even keep that part in stock. So not exactly problem free.

I doubt it a lot more on the Lexus side of that wager.

15,000 miles in new tires?

What were those tires rated for ? 20k?

And your new tires how long will they go?
I’m sure on that car the tires have to run $300 a piece!!

Lexus can be a little funny with tires. On my ‘17 RC 350 F Sport, they felt the need to put Bridgestone Potenza RE 050 buns with a tread wear rating of 140. In 10k miles they were down to 3 mm of tread depth.

While a mildly sporty unit, that car had zero reason to have tires that soft. Nobody is tracking RC 350s that routinely to warrant such extreme tires.

Something to watch for when shopping.

They were $122 per tire.
