2019 Hyundai Ioniq Plug-In Hybrid Base. As/of 01/08/2020

Got the below offer in North Cal. Is there a way to avoid extra charges?

3040 down 138.62 per month for 36 months 12k miles per year and thats including wear and tear protection.

price includes Tax, title, registration, license, documentation and $400 disposition fees.

Hard to say - a lot of these extra charges are covered by state rebates in other states - and that’s what makes it better.
Remember that CA offers $2,500 rebate for EV leases.

So it’s not about avoiding them but better understanding them. Can’t avoid DMV but should Nitro filled tires:)

Get a deal sheet and see what’s there

Only problem with the Toyota Uber Rebate is… that if Uber is your primary income they won’t approve you…

As I stated, Russell Westbrook are crooks.

You wont get the $50 test drive from them either, even though they tell you that you will. Call after it doesn’t arrive and they will say they never participated.

They are pocketing the federal rebate, so the price would be higher if you were to buy it as you would get the rebate instead.

If it shows on the website, that doesn’t mean it’s good to go. You can look at yelp or bbb to see if they honor them or not. Sometimes they graciously take your coupon and toss it in the trash when you leave.

They show all dealers on their website and have custom coupons for each dealer, but not all dealers participate. Some say they do, but they don’t.

I had to contact the state district attorney to get them to pay the $50. Hyundai corporate told me that they didn’t give a damn, but they jumped quickly when the DA contacted them. I am sure I have a lot of this documented.

So just so I understand this correctly, you have to buy the vehicle in CT ? Do I get both incentives CT and NY being that I live in NY.

I got my lease in CT back in December with that extremely high document fee of $600 but still managed to pay a price on a homda touring 1.5 lease that most were paying for an LX at the time so I didn’t care about the $600 doc fee knowing that I was getting a top of the line accord for an LX lease price

So how many on this forum got this lease?

There are certain cars I wouldn’t drive but with a price as low as this I would definitely take one home for a few years, save over $8,000- $10,000 over 3 years. Sure.

Still thinking about it . Went in yesterday and walked out drove it everything. The limited trim 36/12k
0 DAS 150$ . Trying to see if that’s a good deal for the limited

This tip is for the “uber” lease hackrs ie the ones who get the Uber app only to hack leases lol

Please explain how you would save 10k over 3 years?

a) Nobody not driving commercially uses 10k of gas in 3 years
b) The thing still has to be insured and registered and no breaks on that. Costs the same to insure a 3 series as it does the Ioniq
c) 99 a month is a great deal but an entry level compact can be had for 150 a month [elantra, cruze]. So even there max savings 50 times 36 = 1800…
d) Nobody in their right mind who drives 10k miles a year would lease this as their primary/only car, given the paltry 80 miles of range in winter driving…

Sure compared to leasing a gas-guzzling 550i at 500 a month, you would save even more than 10k, but that would be apples to oranges…

At best, this is a 99 a month commuter/beater/nanny/college student 3rd car in the household…

This is a fun discretionary vehicle lease, much like a TV in the attic or bathroom. But don’t make this about saving 10K…

If you do your research, you will see that a lot of used 100-mile range EVs (old gen i3, leaf, spark, 500e) have at most 10k on the odo at the end of 3 years. Wonder why?

That’s false. I commute a 100 miles a day to work and probably have spent close to 10k in fuel in 3 years. But you would be right that this falls well without of my leasing parameters.

Math does not check out… 100 miles times 250 commute days = 25k miles
25 k miles / 25 mpg = 1k gallons
1k gallons times 2.50 /gal = $2.5k
$2.5k times 3 = 7.5k …

If you tell me your commute is 100 miles one-way, then I have to say poor thing … you DESERVE to save 10k in 3 years …

The issue with saving that much money over 3 years is the mileage you would need to drive to do it. 75,000 miles on a 30,000 miles lease.

10 k miles (allotment for this deal) / 25 mpg = 400 gallons

400 gallons time 2.50 / gal = $1000

$1000 times 3 = $3000 savings

You would still need to pay out 15,000 / 25 mpg = 600 gallons unless you leased a couple of these…

I am sure if you asked them to price out a 15k Miles a year lease it would come to 150 a month payment. Also remember 99 a month does not include ttl, so with 8% tax, registration and other excise fees, you are at 125 to 140 a month depending on jurisdiction. With average electricity costs and insurance tco is 200 a month easy

Perhaps state/utility rebates of 2.5k offset that a bit but this car is a serious compromise on driving with 100 mile range and 4 hour charge time

I am pretty sure the lease discount is only available on 10k mileage. You could pay the 20 cents a mile extra though…
