2019 Highlander Limited Platinum. vs 2020 Palisade Limited (Purchase)

Need some advice!

Is it worth it to purchase 2019 Highlander at close to 20% off MSRP or new Palisade with barely any discount?

I can also wait till Palisade hype cool down but it won’t be close to 20% off…

Personally I’m leaning towards Highlander due to long term reliability and value.

Drive them both and see. Highlander is going to cost you a lot less money but you’re also getting significantly less features.

How much you get off depends on what you qualify for. Post-incentive, I ended up at ~15% off MSRP on my palisade sel

20% ! Including incentives ?what are they over there ?

Agree. I reached out to few dealers for Palisade and all were either at MSRP or markup.

Where did you get 15% off from? Was it on Limited trim?

It’s hard to beat Toyota for reliability, and the resale values are through the roof. We bought a 2006 Tacoma for our son 2 years ago with 175,000 miles on it for $13k (yeah, you read that right). We’re going to be selling it now and it’s still worth over $10k. They REALLY retain their value. We have a Highlander, a Tundra, and now two Tacomas (just got him the 2020). I’ve also converted my parents and brother, lol.

Mine is an SEL with the 4 option packs, so one step down from a limited. Ended up about $6k off post incentives. $3k pre-incentive.

Bob Baker in Carlsbad is where I got mine. Nissani in Culver City is the other dealer around that’s been offering big discounts.

Got it. Thanks for the info!

I really like the Limited trim due to the exclusive options: dual sunroof, harmon, etc.

Limited is nice, but personally, I couldn’t justify the extra cost. Even still, they’re starting to come down in price around the country. Seeing more and more limiteds selling for a couple k under MSRP.

Interesting. I searched nationwide and couldn’t find one below MSRP.

Do you mind messaging the link? I appreciate it!

I’m going off what I’ve seen people reporting buying for, not what I’ve seen advertised from dealers.

Got it! I will browse more…

Have you driven the palisade and highlander in close succession? No point in trying to shop diligently for a palisade if the highlander will suffice. I was surprised by the highlander, other than all the tech being at least 2 generations behind.

Planning to drive Highlander this week or next.

I think you’ll find that this will very quickly tell you if the highlander is worth considering.

Test drive the Highlander. I have 17 Highlander and engine makes a lot of noise( a roar). I’m hoping for you that 19 has better noise control. Thank God I’m only leasing and it’s going back in 2 months. I will consider 2020, but I will test drive that one. The only reason I took 17 without test drive…because consumer reports said it was a quiet ride! Sorry after my Buick enclave it was a step down! Just my opinion.

A more fair comparison would be 2020 vs 2020. If you are going for a 2019 test drive you should drive the 2020 Highlander also.

Are they actually on lots yet?

I was going to write if they exist on the lots but I forgot.

Not seeing any actual photos of any on CarGurus. Lots of coming soon/in transit ads.

So you didn’t test drive the car because of a Consumer Reports article? Wow
