My 2016 Denali lease is coming to term, which will be up in October. I currently pay $512 per month, and I put $0 down.
My dealer that I’ve purchased my last 4 vehicles from just called me and informed me that if I were to trade it in early, they would eat the $1536.00 in remaining payments, and after a $55 transfer fee (michigan license plate transfer) I can have the new truck for $570 per month.
I’ve always been on an October lease schedule because that is when they offer some good deals to move the cars off the lot, but this seems like a deal I can’t pass up.
I do get GM employee discount, returning lease discount. I really had to negotiate my previous lease hard, and ended up picking it up on the last day they would lease. Normally I have equity in my lease turn ins, but the new body style change pretty much ruined that for me.
2019 GMC Sierra Denali Ultimate
MSRP: $68,145
10,000 miles (I only put 8,000 on a year, only used to tow snowmobile trailer)
Payment due at signing: $55
Dealer pays my remaining payments of $1536
Total per month: $570
The only thing addition would be if you had some GM credit card rewards (with topoff) you could add to the deal. Can you supply the lease details to ensure you arent overpaying MF or they arent sneaking in any other fees? Also, that seems like a lot of money to spend to only tow snowmobiles. Could you get a beater truck to do that? Or a cheap Tacoma/Tundra lease?
The dealer is ‘eating’ absolutely nothing, it is being rolled in. Unless you’re on the GM manifest list, in which case ANY GM dealer can do a pull ahead.
We have absolutely no info to judge if this deal is horrible or amazing. All you’ve listed is a monthly payment. Incentives could be $15k or $0. Without these details we cannot provide proper feedback. If you’re in SE MI or willing to travel there PM me if you want a dealer contact who will give you best price up front with no shenanigans like “we are eating your payments”.
If it’s a crew cab and I’m sure it is by looking at the price, it’s a heck of a deal. In gm’s truck line, the double cabs lease really well. The crews not so much. But if you have lease pull ahead and you’re employee. How could it get better? I’m sure you’re at the best tier, but if you want a little victory, ask for $15 off the monthly payment and call it a win.
If I had a need for truck I’d aspire to deal like that or better but I’m sure the mrs would steer me towards a Yukon which I hear don’t lease nearly as well…
Keep in mind that this is an employee deal and GMS pricing is strictly enforced in MI. I’m curious if the dealer is throwing in flex cash, and if so, how much. Hard to judge anything without all the details.
Just an update. The dealer did a trade for the color I wanted, dealer rolled in my remaining payments on my current lease ($1536), $55 transfer fee paid out of pocket at signing and my payments are $569.72 a month.
Dealer used flex cash, which brought total incentives to $12,093. Sales price of $56,052.00.
I shopped 9 dealers, and had payments all the way up to $729/month. I had 4 dealers in the $569-$585 range.
IMO, if you have 4 dealers at nearly identical quotes (and I know nothing of Sierra Denalis or how they lease, just speaking on the situation as a whole), you’re either an amazing negotiator, or you can keep searching for the needle in a haystack.
Even with my employee pricing, and contacting 9 dealers, I had prices from $569.72 to $729
When I showed up to sign the paperwork for the truck, they had accidentally put in some service that if your vehicle is stolen and not recovered they give you $5,000. It was $300. After asking them to remove that line item my payment came down to $561/month.
I didn’t find a “needle in the haystack”, I was just very good at contacting numerous dealers and explaining to them exactly what I needed, so it was easy for them to come to a price.
My local dealer was over $150 more a month for the same exact truck…
Did you happen to notice or ask why out of curiosity? In other words, did they mark up MF, or what add-ons did they try to bake in? By rights, with GMS, it should be the same price no matter where you go all things on the truck being equal.
