Appreciate the quick feedback. Been chasing courtesy 540s for the past couple months in about a 300 mile radius and this is the highest i have come across pre-incentive. Mind you I have been particular about colors and options (this is black w/ M-Sport).Market seems flooded with white.
Just of curiosity, why do so many people on this board assume it’s easy to get 18-20% off a loaner/demo unit or that is the standard discount? My experience with this has been that it depends on the model, time, aging and relationship to get this done.
Right now if someone wants 20% off a BMW the model that it’s doable on is the X1. I have gotten 3 offers 21%+ off a loaner and the highest so far is surprisingly from an Autonation dealer here in NorCal.
I have been debating just getting an m550, 540 doesn’t seem worth the premium and I’m not gaining any traction on the m5 front, m550 @599 would be good value for the money.
but yes op getting this for $499 with max msd would be a very good deal imo.
This is 100% circumstantial. On any given day, 99.7% of dealers will tell you to kick rocks when offering 20% on a 540i MSport demo or loaner.
If you happen to have a dealer on the edge of a bonus, or they’re tired of looking at the car, or if the car has a story behind it or any combination of the above as well as some other reasons unknown to your person you just might get it.
I’ll add to that it depends on the dealer as well, some really enjoy having aged inventory on the lot. I think I mentioned in another post about dealer here in NorCal who have a few demo 540s that they have sitting for over 380 days and aren’t willing to budge over 12%.
There’s a point where you just plain have poor inventory management at play and if they want to sit on these cars there isn’t a thing you’re gonna do about it except shop where your money is greener.
