2019 Audi A6 coming off lease

,

I currently have a 2019 Audi A6 3.0 Premium Plus coming off lease in September. KBB estimates the value of the car to be ~$44k, but my local dealer is offering $39k; apparently, there is a stop sale? Residual is $36k, so only $3k positive equity. Can’t justify current lease deals, as interest rates and marginal discounts are insane! Seems to make the most sense to purchase the car at residual and ride this market out. The dealer quoted me $5,900 for Audi Pure warranty (I will negotiate down, assume there is room). Would you recommend purchasing this warranty? Or should I wait until the warranty expires? The car has so much tech and reliability reports are not favorable on the A6. Thanks for your guidance.

Forget about KBB’s estimate.

Were you looking to lease another Audi or something else? I would have recommended reaching out to a broker and doing a custom order, but Audis are taking up to 9 months (or even longer) to be built.

My suggestion is to call AFS and see if you can extend the lease. That will buy you some time to figure things out.

I would call other dealers and shop around. What does the warranty cover? Make sure to read the fine print about exclusions. What are the terms of the coverage? 6 years/100k miles?

EDIT: Is the warranty the Gold or Platinum level?

Talk to rodo, or use an autonation value see if they can get something put together.

They can buy cars out from Audi through their dealer network.

Why not just fully CPO the car if possible, or get a third party exclusionary warranty that will cover most of what Audi does with OEM parts?

Thank you, @Bluemkn57cars and @HersheySweet . I have called a broker, Audi lead times are 8-9 months and rates are not looking favorable at the moment. I will definitely call other dealers and call around; it was for the platinum level. Warranty is a bumper to bumper and covers everything except wear and tear and cosmetics. My car has only 23k miles, with new tires. They said it’s not worth the cost to CPO, and I would lose pre-paid service plan. I have not heard great things about third party warranties, any companies you recommend exploring?

With that little mileage, I personally would forego the warranty or CPO, but that’s just my risk tolerance

:point_up_2::point_up_2: - I was checking out the online portal where you can input your VIN and mileage. After selecting your coverage it will list the price for the warranty based on your choices. Did you use the portal to generate pricing or did you have to contact a dealer?

Thanks, @Bluemkn57cars . Can you share the link? The portal I had found only seems to be only for dealers.

For a '19 P+ in IL, 48 months, 100k miles from new is $3300. $0 deduct.

Thank you! For sure not going through the dealer… appreciate everyone’s help!

Since I’m in MA, it looks like I am going to have to go through a dealer. For the fun of it, I used NH as my home state and I was able to generate a quote on my '21 A6.

@HersheySweet - Probably why OP was quoted nearly $6k.

No from 23k miles, additional 76k miles of warranty.

$5900 for a warranty. Who do they think they are Braman Audi of West Palm Beach

I am in a very similar situation and am looking for some advice. I currently have a 2019 Audi Q5 Premium Plus lease coming to an end in two months. The residual value stated on my lease contract is $25,500. I have been getting some offers of 30-33k as trade in value. Thinking about extending my lease six months? Would Audi financial do that? I have been reading that they only allow you to extend your lease if you are getting another Audi. If I can’t do that then what do I do? I need a vehicle and don’t want to finance or purchase my car. I would like to take advantage of this positive equity in my vehicle because I know it won’t last much longer (used car market softening). Is there any comparable vehicle that I could get a “decent” lease on?

Call them and ask

Depends, how comparable do you find a Jeep Wrangler :joy:

No thank you. I really don’t like the way those drive!

First of all, I would recommend creating your own post.

Not at anywhere near that price. :no_good_man:t4:

Definitely purchasing direct with Audi; thank you all for your guidance!
