2019 Acura MDX tech is it a good lease

I am new to leasing and I been reading about it for over a week now. Everyday you learn new things. Sorry in advance if i sound stupid.

I am trading in a BMW valued at 16k but owe 24k

Is this a good deal. This is the 2nd dealer I went to and they did a lot better then the other dealer (dealer 1).

Dealer currently has $10,500 in discounts but $5,000 is being thrown towards the trade in that’s why discount shows $4,500 and trade in shows $21,000. They did it this way instead of just showing my trade was worth $16,000 because the other dealer (dealer 1) tricked me by saying they giving me all the available discounts $4.500 and 21k for my car so he tried to do apples to apples comparison. Took off the pro pack charge, dealer 1 charged me $690. non tax charging $125, instead of $960 like the other dealer 1. He is also going to take of an additional $400 from the market value selling price. I may push my luck and asked for another $1,000 towards my trade in.

Question:

  1. Is this a good deal. I understand i have 3k negative equity but I read people putting down minimal cash. My dealer currently has $439 acura mdx base with $2,750 due at signing (plus tax, license, title fee, registration, and documentation fee) so i would say thats another 3k on top of $2,750. Plus another 2k for tech package plus 3k negative equity. I am still coming up short 2k from their 12k thatvthey want me to put down.

  2. Are incentives and discounts the same? Because I hear acura is giving $6250 in incentives but my dealer is giving me 10k in discounts. Us it safe to assume the 10k in discounts include the 6250 incentives.

Probably the dumbest idea I’ve ever seen. Why would you trade in a vehicle you are upside down 8k on?

This is so bad it isn’t even funny. If you have been reading for so long, why are you considering putting down $12k?!?!?

12k is to lower the monthly payment and make up the negative equity. Trading in the car because we need a big suv, this is the first time I have had negative equity I need an suv so i will have to trade it in. I leaning towards putting more money down and buying the MDX vs leasing.

Down payment on a lease is always an awful idea. Look at a CPO one instead of buying new. They haven’t changed much since this generation was introduced
