I received two quotes for new 2019 A5 coupes. What would be a good monthly lease price? Attached are the quotes without any negotiations. I am located in Houston, TX.
You are conducting 2 transactions at the same time - the trade and the lease. Have you done research to figure out what your trade-in is worth? You should get quotes from CarMax, vroom.com, and carvana.com.
The dealer discount is really small. You should be pursuing quotes from every Audi dealership within at least 50-100 miles.
Carugurs.com lists a similarly priced A5 2.0 Quattro at $46,984. There could be discounts in there that apply to purchases, but not to leases. You will have to find that out, but they list $46,499 as a great price on an MSRP of $53,500 - that’s 12% off including any applicable rebates. FYI, this is from Audi Central Houston, which is a Sonic Automotive dealership!
The 2k cash down they’re requiring will basically just pay the negative equity on your Q3, you should negotiate this separately and independent of each other.
Very little discount for both offers.
890 a month for an A5 with rolled in equity? There are M3s on this very forum doing FAR better than that.
The listing you linked to is for a 2018 model. I actually drove this vehicle and my salesman said that they are willing to offer me a “substantial discount” since it is a 2018. However, I prefer a white vehicle over black.
I’d say my trade is valued about right as I am getting quotes from $22,000 - $19,500.
How can you tell that I have negative equity in the Q3? I have two payments left (total of $922) to make on the vehicle.
The lease sheet notes the buy out vs what they are offering
Is that what you you’re saying your car is valued or what you’ve actually gotten quotes for?
Your car is valued exactly at what someone is willing to pay for it, but it sounds like you acknowledge that there’s negative equity in it. That’s going to hurt any decent deal, slightly. At worse, it’ll be around 60 extra a month with the 2k in there.
Definitely try to get rid of the vehicle independently of the deal and find a different dealer with the inventory you want.
Just know, almost 1k a month for a 52k dollar car is pretty crazy.
Sorry I wasn’t paying attention to the year very carefully. There are four dealerships in Houston - Central and West are both Sonic dealerships and North and Sugar Land are both Sewell dealerships. You have a quote from Sonic…have you contacted North or Sugar Land?
Other than the color, do you want a 2019? What about Trim? They all appear to have the same engine. The MSRPs are as follows: Premium $44,200, $48,600 Premium Plus, $52,300 Prestige. If this is a Premium, do you need the extra options that bring it up to $53,500?

I guess I am not too well versed in trading in a leased vehicle. I assumed that I didn’t have any options on where to trade it in, but I guess I can trade the vehicle in at any Audi?
You can sell your Q3 anywhere that gives you the most amount of money… do the Q3 separately from the lease. Check out quotes from Carvana/Carmax/VROOM for easy dealing.
Are there damages that you would need to pay for if turning it in at lease end? If not, it’s cheaper to just make the remaining payments than to have the dealer buy it out and roll over $2k in negative equity.
The A5 offers terrible value for a lease, even if you competely take out your Q3.
You can buy a used A5 certified for these monthly payments… I think Op is crazy to try to lease the A5.
5k down is a lot to commit to the lease.
Needs to get greater discount on the car.
So Sonic offered 2.1% discount prior to rebate while Sewell offered 5.6%…at least things are moving in the right direction. If you’re able to get quotes from the nearest other big city, that would be good. The essentials package may be something that can be removed and the AudiCare is $999 while Sonic had it at $869.
Did you confirm the residual and MF on edmunds?
I don’t know how to find the residual and MF on edmunds. The Sewell Audi North has the residual as 31047.40 and the MF as .00177.
No damages. Car is in really good condition and under 20,000 miles out of the 30,000 allotment. Is it better to purchase the A5 than lease?
Thank you for your honesty. I am here because I don’t want to fall for a really bad deal. Maybe I should just purchase.
Yeah man, if you love the A5 and you want it, then I suggest finance. Certified used, an A5 across a 5 year term would have similar if not, slightly better payments. Just a matter of what you can financially sustain.
