I was reading topics online, but I am not sure how to approach lowering both the selling price and MF. Can I outright ask for the sell price to be 15-20% off msrp? Or will the dealers laugh at me?
When I subtract the residual value from the selling price the total is $9,779.15 but why does the calculator say $12,258. Does that mean there are about $2,000+ hidden costs?
MSRP Price at … $27,215.00
Invoice Price at … $26,239.00
Selling Price at … $25,836.00 (5% off msrp)
59% Residual Value at $16,056.85 (10k miles a year).
MF: 0.00050 (other VW quoted me 0.00027: could I try to lower the MF if my credit score is 800+?)
$925.00 Drive Off.
3 years at $ 310.00 (tax included)/ 10,000 miles
Tax: 9.5%
Incentives: 500 College grad
Can’t see where you’re based but I’d target vehicles that have been on the lot for a while: https://www.cargurus.com/Cars/new/searchresults.action?sourceContext=untrackedWithinSite_false_0&newSearchFromOverviewPage=true&inventorySearchWidgetType=AUTO&entitySelectingHelper.selectedEntity=d1104&entitySelectingHelper.selectedEntity2=&zip=77380&distance=50000&searchChanged=true&lostFilters=Trims&modelChanged=true&filtersModified=true&sortType=PRICE&sortDirection=ASC#resultsPage=1
Some of those are already reduced by 20% and have been there for nearly a year so you have a strong bargaining position. Hopefully some of those are near you, if not find the older vehicles near you and target those specifically. Email them and negotiate, agree the numbers before going in to sign. Post the proposed deal here and we can help.
Ohh, I see. I was try to calculate the other part of the residual value I would have to pay. So I though I could subtract it…thank you for sharing the link!
