Hi All, Thanks to everyone on this site for the information, tips, and help. Just leased this car today, want to know how I did, and if there were any areas for improvement. I had agreed to a deal on a Jaguar XF the week before last that was a 2017 service loaner with 5k miles on it for $388 a month last week (including $2900 due at signing, most towards capital reduction) and the deal fell through because incentives changed April 2nd. I found this site because of that, and tried to educate myself the best I could, and below was the result. I have very little time to spend negotiating with a dealer or car shopping, and did most of this negotiating via text before ever going to the dealership.
Great deal and congrats on it being your first new car! I love the new Volvo interiors and would have a XC90 in a split second if the numbers were anything close to this, but alas.
I think they dropped a couple of the rebates on the T8 models for April, so now they are not as attractive, especially with bloated MF (for Volvo anyway).
Great job, I’m actually in the market for one in your area and came across your post. Any tips for negotiating down the price? Also, you can apply your A Plan discount on top of the incentives and etc…?
Thank you! Are you also able to negotiate the price down and then apply A-Plan on top along with the incentives? Or is the A-Plan a substitute for negotiation of price?
Sorry for being slow to reply, I have been super busy. I love the car, I am happiest when in the car driving. I have a BMW 328d, which I love, but there is no comparison in luxury and the plushness of the interior, and the ride. The Volvo is night and day better. My gf has a like 2004 Ford Escape, and she says going from driving that to driving my BMW is the same as going from the BMW to the Volvo.
As for dealership, it was in St. Louis. There are two big Volvo dealerships in Saint Louis. One has a much better reputation than this one, but they weren’t really wanting to deal. They were $170 more per month (it had slightly more options).
My tips would be know the MF, residual, and rebates going in. I seemed to know them better than the finance people at one of the dealerships. The rest of the negotiation is all dealer reduction. It seems one of the two dealerships was reluctant to disobey Volvo rules on A plan pricing. The other gave me 12% off sticker, before rebates.
