Very new to leasing. I read through majority of the articles on this site, was extremely helpful, so thank you for offering those to new users.
I’m in the market for a 2018 WRX STi. Here is the breakdown from the dealer, let me know if I should inquire and ask for more information.
36 month lease / 10k
Due at signing $819.21 this is first payment and dealer fees.
Monthly payment $422.27
Residual $23,638
MF 0.00095
These numbers seem to reflect Edmunds leasing information. But their numbers are more reflective of 2017, we’re getting closer to 2019 models arriving. Can I do any better here?
Base STI MSRP should be around $38,219. Their internet price is the invoice price of the car. Your residual and MF is correct, is the monthly payment including or pretax?
I thought the same. My only hesitation now is my other test drive with GTI and the 2019 STi that should be announced/released very soon. Assuming minor changes I think I will jump on the 2018.
Based on experience, do you think they will come close to matching these numbers on the 2019 model?
2019s are rumored to be receiving the STI Type RA engine. The power bump is only 5HP but the big thing is that they are installing stronger pistons. That might be worth it alone if you are thinking about keeping it after the lease. If you plan on getting rid of it after the 3 year lease, then I would do your current deal.
That’s good to know. At the moment I have no intention to track the car — any cosmetic changes, or interior options that you know of being newly introduced for 2019? What are we thinking, June for release?
Not much has been revealed but info should be coming out by the end of this week or next. Possibly the same transmission update to match the RA. If you read RA reviews, everyone agrees that the low end and mid-range torque have improved a bit compared to the base STI. Here’s how the engine info leaked, it’s all over the web if you search.
“A 2019 model year VIN decoder document sent to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration by North American Subaru shows a power increase for the turbocharged 2.5-liter boxer four. The document, dated April 11th, shows the mill’s output at 310 horsepower — a 5 hp increase from previous models. The 2019 STI’s output is the same as the limited edition STI Type RA, a vehicle announced on April 2nd to mark the 30th anniversary of motorsports subsidiary and performance shop Subaru Tecnica International (STI).”
That’s a very nice deal on an STI, dealers usually don’t go much below MSRP on these from my experience.
Post some pics if you end up pulling the trigger
Agreed, they were very transparent from the very beginning. I’ll post some pics if I end up going for it. I made another thread on the forums about a TLX A-Spec that I was offered for $34k selling price. So I’m debating this week.
I secured the lease today on the 2018 STi base with 2 options. I’m happy — the car is what I was looking for, so thanks to all of those that answered questions and participated in this thread!
