2018 Subaru Outback 3.6R

My wife and I are looking to replace her Audi Q5 with a 2018 Subaru Outback 3.6R. I have started contacting dealers around Los Angeles and Orange County, and I’m getting some less than stellar numbers back thus far. The best deal I’ve received so far is the following:

Vehicle: 2018 Outback 3.6R Limited w/Eyesight and Nav
Lease term: 36/12K
MSRP: $38,800
Vehicle Price: $35,500 ($500 under invoice or 8.4% off MSRP)
MF: .0008 (this is lower than what I’ve seen on Edmunds, which is odd)
Residual: 63%
Drive-off: $0
Monthly pmt w/tax: $431

I would need to get them down to 12% off MSRP, or approximately $34,000, for this to fall under the 1% of MSRP rule. Not sure whether anybody out there has had any luck with Subarus. Based on prior threads it seems some folks are able to get around 11-12% off MSRP, but so far the dealers aren’t really budging much. I assume this is due to the fact that I’m looking at recently released 2018 MY rather than 2017.

Has anybody been able to get decent leases on the 2018 3.6R Outback out there or is my expectation unreasonable given how Subaru structures their leases?

Another $1K off should be easily doable. I see about $376/mo incl. 9.75% tax and $595 acquisition fee, if your MF = buy rate. Normal deal for a Subaru.

Thanks Ursus. I’ve been emailing some dealers in the area and the lowest offer I’ve seen so far is $385/month (including taxes) and $899 drive-offs (MSRP of $38,766).

I’m going to test drive a few other cars in the morning to see whether anything else resonates, though I don’t think they tend to lease any better than the Outback (Highlander, CX-9, and MDX).

I am about to pull the trigger on a 2018 3.6r Limited for $370 a month with only first months payment and ME sales tax. MSRP $38k. Squeaks into the 1% rule, and I know Subaru doesn’t always lease well so I am happy. I really wanted something AWD and full stop and go cruise so my options were limited. I was hoping to be closer to $300 but definitely feel like it is worth stretching to the 3.6 over the 2.5.

I’ve been working on one for a customer, 36/10 = 340 w/ 1400 at signing. Includes NY 8.375% tax. This is the 3.6R Limited w/ the sensing stuff. 38k msrp

Thanks for the examples of your active deals. The dealer here seems amenable to $380 including tax with zero drive offs. Vehicle MSRP is $38,700.

Womp womp, looks like they didn’t calc tax into my payment so now looking like $390, not in the 1%… may need to go back to the drawing board or settle for 2.5.

The 2.5 isn’t that much cheaper.

So just to close the circle here (will update Trophy Garage when I get pics) I ended up with a $37,996 MSRP 2018 Limited 3.6r for $379 a month with just first months payment due (including ME sales tax). 36 month / 15k lease. Just squeaked into the 1% rule. I am sure some could do better, but I think New England is a tough area to really score deals. No Maine dealers even wanted to play ball. The MA dealers were mediocre, and the NH dealers seemed to be the most responsive and helpful. Ended up buying from Manchester Subaru (a Prime dealership). They had better prices than anyone right on their site but didn’t budge from there. Overall a super easy experience with them, and they even drove 2 hours in the rain tonight each way to drop it off! Steve Lantagne was my sales guy, not pushy, and super easy to work with.

Forgot to add that I did have a $500 coupon so that helped!

Looks solid! What was the selling price for the vehicle? I have a “best” offer from a dealer now for $385 per month with zero drive-offs (36 month/12K miles). MSRP of $38,700 and a selling price of $34,878.

Selling price was $33,797, then minus $500 for ambassador coupon, then back up a bit with doc/acq fees. So about 11% off MSRP. I think some people have been able to get to 12%, but I think in more competitive regions and where Subarus don’t just sell themselves.

Thanks! I tried to get the dealer I’ve been working with to get to 11% off MSRP and he’s unwilling to do so. Currently at 9-10%.

Does anybody have lease info on 2018 outback limited with eyesight and nav +Auto start and a few small xtra. Msrp 26450 36 month lease with 0 down only first month payment in nyc including tax and fees. Thanks

Message me I have many Outback limited’s

Can you please give me details.

You typed MSRP of $26450, did you mean $36450?

I just leased a 2018 Outback Limited with Eyesight for my wife. MSRP of $36581 and selling price of $30647. That is 16% off! Getting to that price with 2 of 7 SF Bay Area dealers was actually pretty easy. Also got the November baseline MF of .00060 and 62% residual for 36/12k. Really happy with the deal. $750 drive off (first month, DMV and partial acquisition fee) and $294/month with taxes.

Sorry I meant $36450

The best New York deal I found is $420 with 0 down including tax and all fees. 36 mos 12k it’s way more expensive than CA

That is an amazing Subaru discount, no way a Colorado dealer would give 16% off on any Subaru…

It’s about $3K under invoice. I’ve never heard about discounts like this, but looks like they push 3.6 Outbacks hard.
