You don’t say where in NY you are, so I used a Long Island zip code with a 200 mile radius on cargurus and found a Crosstrek with the options you mentioned and an MSRP that’s within $50 bucks of yours - $26,678. The Great Price on this vehicle is below $23,423 - that’s $3,255 ~ 12.2% discount. That’s another $40 a month minimum if you can get that type of discount.
Have you owned or leased a Subaru before? Many are indicating a waiver of the acquisition fee upon re-leasing. You should confirm or ask to waive. I experienced this last month myself when I leased I did not pay an acquisition fee.
I found that prices much more negotiable off the MSRP on the Outback, Forester and Impreza’s compared to the % off MSRP on the Crosstrek. I would still try though of course!
First Subaru so don’t think I could have the acquisition fee waived.
Good to know about the Forester, that was the other model in consideration but I started focusing more on the Crosstrek because of the lower price point.
The 2018 Forester does not have Appleplay and Android apps so in addition to it being a last generation model before the newly designed 2019’s come out, you can get some good deals.
Last night a dealer in Carlsbad said he was giving them away. Lol.
I really like the Crosstrek, but not too many deals on those. So then I was looking at the Impreza, but the base model looks like crap. But the same dealership also had VWs, and there were some awesome deals on those, so I ended up with a Tiguan S. It’s front wheel drive, but I’ll just get some chains for the mountains.
Acquisition fee. I have seen it several times here reported that the acquisition fee has been waived and it happened to me when I leased on 5-31-2018. I did not do a lease return, it was a new lease, but my 2nd Subaru, but first with Subaru financing.
The only time I’ve seen it, I thought it was user-error and the people didn’t list it because it wasn’t on the work sheet, but the worksheet didn’t list everything. Do you mind showing us a copy of your lease contract to confirm?
Subaru has run acquisition fee waivers as an incentive in certain states. In fact they advertise it if it’s in your area when you look at special offers for your area on their website.
It does pay to ask about any regional deals on Edmunds too while you are inquiring about the MF/RV.
In addition to waiving the acquisition fee on my lease, I also received two years free maintenance with the Subaru Added Security Maintenance Plan for 2 year synthetic oil (24,000 miles - 6,000 intervals) including oil changes, tire rotations, and the 15,000 mile Subaru maintenance service. Dealer said it was regional to SoCal.
Reached out to a number of NJ dealers, best offer so far is $2,105 off a MSRP of $26,318, so 8%. Threw out a few offers in the 11-12% range and getting pretty firm ‘no’s’, that cars with those options can’t be sold for that low.
