2018 Porsche Macan S Lease Deal

Fellow Leasehackers,

I’m in the market to lease a premium/luxury vehicle with a budget of around 700 a month for 36 months. I have been targeting the Macan S, and upon an initial enquiry, I have been quoted a lease deal of 829 pm +taxes for a Macan S with a MSRP tag of 61,450 USD listed on the dealer’s website.

Breakdown:

MSRP: 61,450 USD

60K sale price

Residual 60% for 12K miles a year

36 months

$4000 total down

829 a month plus tax

.00240 MF

Comments/suggestions on the deal, and how/how much to bring it down further?

Also, worthy alternates to check out? Open to Sedans in Mercedes and Audi. Thanks!

Your discount is laughable and if you think putting $4k down is a good idea, I’d recommend spending a couple of hours reading old posts and doing research

Porsches don’t lease well. High MF, not many discounts, not great residuals. If you want it, buy it.

The only way you can bring down a Macan S lease further is to show up in a Ferrari - then they will know you are not kidding …

Have you driven one yet? Although many people sees it as a compact SUV, Macan is in the size of a hatchback and drives like a (good) hatchback. If you want a Porsche SUV, take a look at the outgoing Cayenne ( you may regret not waiting for the new design though). If you want a car, there are better Porsche options .

At your budget, I would get a nicely loaded V6 Velar.

At ~$800, could you be in an M3?

For sure if a Porsche is your pleasure, consider buying. $800 for a $60k car is terrible.

Take a look at a Base Macan (4 cylinder).
They are discounting about 10%.

57.5K at 39/10 with $1500 DAS = $700 / month including 9.5% tax - without even negotiations - just offered up by Automation!

Thanks for your comment. So ideally, I’d like to do a DP of 0, or as much as just 1000 USD, keeping my driveoff to include just the first month + acq fee + paperwork fee.
Regarding the discount, my first plan of action is to get more on that. I’m a recent graduate so I can try getting that as well. Any comments on how else or what common ways are there to go about getting more discounts on the MSRP?
Also, I find that the MF is quite high as well, any suggestions there? I want the monthly payment to come down in the 700-750s, since anything less (even my target) is laughably ambitious considering it’s a Porsche (and a Macan S, not Macan).

I understand that 829 plus taxes is a ripoff for Macan S. However, I do plan on getting discounts on the MSRP, and bring down the MF, to possibly get to a 750+taxes range.
Do you think Macan S is not worth the extra 150 than Macan?

The MF you can’t go below base (0.0024).
My quote for $700 per month with tax is using the base MF.
The only thing you can do is drop the MSRP.
Remember, Porsche does not do “loser” deals where they go below invoice - like BMW, Audi, etc…
They markup around 12% on average so getting 10% discount is a lot for them.

They are more like to discount 10% on a aged lot car or the base Macans. Less likely for the S, GTS, Turbo, etc…

Macan S vs Base:
Since I am driving the congested streets of Los Angeles daily, the 4 cylinder base Macan is more than enough - don’t need a 6 cylinder…

If you need the 6 cylinder, look at an Audi SQ5 - that’s a pocket rocket and drives like a beast!

If a Macan and Sq5 arrives at the valet boot at the same time, Macan will likely get the preferred treatment over the Audi though…

considering you can lease a 370hp v6 turbo sq5 for less than a 4 cylinder Macan, I’d gladly spend a few extra minutes waiting at the valet

You can also lease a v6 infinity q50 cheaper than a bmw 530i 4 cylinder, yet many would prefer (rightfully so) the 530i. He’s here asking for help on numbers on a Porche and maybe referrals to Porche dealers. Don’t flood his thread with how long you would wait at the valet; it’s completely irrelevant.

To OP: The Macan is one of the most enjoyable cars I’ve ever driven. However, I drove the Turbo and not the S, so there’s a slight difference. Nonetheless, the car is very responsive and you get the premium Porche feel in the interior. If your heart is with it, good luck in grinding out a deal. You will truly enjoy the car.

Except the OP asked for recommendations on worthy alternatives.

Further, an sq5 and macan are very similar and built on the same platform.

So, for someone looking for a deal on a macan (which doesn’t exist), the sq5 is the perfect choice.

Yes the SQ5 is awesome but since it shares the same platform, does the SQ5 have active clutch packs for torque vectoring or by braking ???

I remember the Porsche without having to pay for PTV option, had great cornering out of acceleration that made me just grin!

@Mike_Ezginder @4sallypat @Lejjvi @mikem @anon92897398 @vhooloo @28firefighter @BoardWalkNJ Thanks everyone for your comments! So the bottomline is that the lease deal is ridiculous, which I agree to. But at the same time, Porsches do not lease well (forget about the 1% lease rule of thumb). Any suggestions/insights as to how do I get some discount on the MSRP to make more wiggle room on the negotiations?
Alternatively, what would be the realistic best/doable lease deal for a Porsche Macan and a Macan S?

Plug 12% off into the calculator and that’s the bottom line cost on a deal that’s unlikely to happen. There’s an implied 6% interest rate on these things. Towards the end of the year, when 19s arrive, see who has an 18 and hit them up. They’re still unlikely to move on an S or higher trim though.

Porsche is the rolex of the car world. Artificial pricing based on perceived scarcity and brand “prestige”. If you want to get one, you should be prepared to pay for it.

A q50 and a 530i should never be in the same sentence unless the sentence is “a q50 and a 530i share absolutely nothing in common”. If you want to compare apples to apples, the q70 is the 5 series equivalent and leases worse than a 5 series.

Ha, and if you look at an SQ5, you might as well look at a stelvio, it handles better and has a 0-60 almost exactly the same. Plus it’s safer and approaches half the cost.

Oh I forgot about the “affordable person’s” Porsche - Alfa Romeo Stelvio!

Yes, the Stelvio is definitely a Porsche Macan in disguise - OP you need to test drive it!

It’s a driver’s car (like a Porsche), and lacks the interior luxe and tech but the Ti Sport handles like a Porsche complete with torque vector cornering.

My dealer is offering aged units for $445 / month on nothing down:

For a $50K car that you can get a less than 1% lease - that is just the icing on the cake!
Thanks @jon1
