I started doing tons of research on leases when I looked to lease a 2018 Acura TLX A-Spec AWD. The dealers wouldn’t play ball below $450, 0 down even with their $5500 rebate. I’m considering the Q50 RS or 3.0T Sport as well as I’ve read about insane deals on those. At the moment, I’ve been doing lots of legwork on getting a deal for the GS 350 F-Sport as I didn’t feel like $450 was worth it for the Acura. 36/10 are the lease terms.
I’ve received initial offers anywhere between $600 and $800 per month, 0 due at signing without MSDs with a $56.3k MSRP. The residual values seem to be consistent across dealerships, 52%. The money factor as well: 0.00040. The main difference seems to be the selling price of the car and small fees. I’ve been vocal to them I’m aiming for closer to $500/month but some can’t even beat $600 so I’m not sure if it’s a pipe dream at this point.
I know the GS sales are abysmal and will likely get discontinued soon so I was hoping they would be eager to make a sale and get it off their lots. Maybe it’s not the right time to buy? The lease rebate for $4500 ends June 4th. I have a fully paid off 2013 Altima that drives perfectly fine.
Example quote that I got for $603/month 0 down, 36/10.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. One dealer said they were getting ‘new’ 2018 Lexus company cars with a few hundred miles on them that they can get close to $500/month but I’m not sure how much of a discount a ‘used-new’ car should be.
I entered the numbers and it was a slightly less than $603. Maybe some fees I’m missing. As for the $500 figure, I honestly completely made it up seeing that Q50 RS with around the same MSRP have been leased for less than 500, 0 down. I understand different cars, different residuals, MF so it isn’t apples-apples.
500 for the GS is like 0.89% MSRP which is what I was hoping to get as close as possible to; 1% would be 560. There aren’t too many lease posts on the 2018 GS as no one really buys them so its hard to draw a conclusion based on 1-3 sample sizes.
I would probably just buy a certified one at 50% off. Lexus is generally low maintenance so you could keep it a long time. I don’t think it leases well.
You’re at 12% off MSRP before rebates right now. You can try to up to 15%, but I doubt dealers would go that much. Even at 15% off and 4 MSDs, you won’t hit your target of $500/month.
I punched the numbers from the quote into the calculator on their website and it returned $598 a month instead of $603 so theres probably $200 in fees they’re sneaking in there.
I have considered purchasing a used one actually. Any similar spec GS F-Sport starting from the 2016 refresh would be fine but the issue is that theres less than 10 available within a 500 mile radius of San Francisco.
The prices listed start at around 45k for ones with <20k miles. I assume they might let it go for 40k but it seems like the poor new car sales are affecting the used market. This may change within the next year as more 2016s come off their leases as there are 10x more 2015s for sale. I see 2015s listed for less than 35k.
Thanks for the advice, I really do appreciate it. I’m sorry if I come off as negative, I like to do all my homework before making a large financial decision. I’ll keep my mind open and aim for $550 or buy a used 2016 next year.
I’m leasing a GS350 F sport and prior to 2016 they leased very well (I got mine in end 2015 and got over $10K in discounts). I’ve been doing research here in SOCAL too since my lease ends AUG. So far my research has lead to being told to wait a bit for numbers to drop (JUN-SEP) because the GS will be discontinued post 2019 (except the GSF) in favor for the new ES350 F sport or series. But I agree these cars don’t hold their value much after 2-3 years. My residual is a lot higher than what the average selling price for a fully loaded GS350 Fsport (with everything but HUD and AWD - because there were none of those in the lot when I picked mine). I will be looking at the new GS350 (Fsport) too soon for a viable replacement to my current Fsport.
Is your lease a 2015 and that 10k discount was including the rebate? I considered the new ES as well but that probably won’t have any discounts for the first few months.
Do you think the GS will have a model year 2019? I got a quote for a fully optioned AWD 2018 (there aren’t too many across the country) and the lowest I reached was 650/month which was their ‘invoice price’. I’m considering taking that one if they can lower it to 600, the MSRP was 60k.
I was actually considering buying out the lease after 3 years as the interest rate is <1% and if they’re discounting the car over 20%.
I am also looking for a GS350 F sport . I am considering going with an IS350 F sport, or just get another ES instead. Not sure the IS will lease much better than the GS other than it being a cheaper car, but the ES seems to have picked up some money on the hood recently.
Another observation, there is very little inventory on GS, IS, and RC 350’s . At least on Long Island, NY.
I’ve looked into the GS350 as well. Even though they’re not selling, Lexus dealers don’t seem interested in dealing on them… yet. I’d bet as we get past Summer and buyers keep looking past the GS in favor of the SUVs, dealer interest/desire to move the metal may change.
My MSRP was close to $58K and even with all the deep discounts (33 months at 15K a year) my monthlies are $499. Which is high compared to the people putting down MSDs. But at that time it was the best deal in 200 miles (zero down and zero customer cash). When I dropped my car for service earlier this month the GM asked what it would take for me to get into another GS lease (I told him less than I’m paying now). Instead of laughing he actual said he will check some numbers. When I came back to pick up (just oil change, they gave me a free loaner for lunch and tooling around) the GM gave me his card and said he can definitely do a deal. He asked when I needed and I said summer. I was glad he did not try to get me out of my lease early and roll the price into my new payment (like they generally do). So next month I’m gonna start my research and see what is being offered. BTW even on lease swap web sites the cheapest swap I saw for a white on red Fsport was $580 and he wanted $1500 down (it was a 2017). The captioned read that he put a lot of money down to get that deal (yeah right). So even those are not cheap anymore.
But after looking at the new ES350 Fsport, I may rethink the GS this go around for the ES (of course if the price is less than my current). Where I live in California (San Diego) the largest (inventory) Lexus dealership is a few miles away and they do beat LA deals (Glendale still a good place to start).
each dealer only got 1-2 in stock. rumor is that they discontinuing it.
my current lease deal is $467 per month tax included, zero drive off, 36/12k, i got offered $559 +tax with $1500 dirve off even with their incentives.
499 sounds pretty amazing for 33/15. If someone like that GM you spoke to offered me something close to that, I would probably sign off on it right away.
Perhaps I’m not negotiating hard enough or they know people in bay area have too much disposable income. The lowest offer right now is at 587 with a 6.2k discount (11%, pre-incentive) - 55.7k msrp - 0 due at signing. Even with another 2k off boosting it to a 15% discount, it would be at ~530.
I do have a 750 grad rebate that can be combined with the 4.5k which also expires 6/4 (won’t be eligible next year). Thing is, should I forgo that 750 in hopes they’ll throw out a higher incentive/discount the car more in the summer or dec? The numbers I’ve thrown out haven’t included the 750.
Unrelated question, do dealers ever sell a car BELOW invoice before incentives? The fully loaded GS dealer said 650 was already at the rate they were buying it at before incentives but you can never trust a salesman.
He will tell you anything I would be shocked if he could beat your existing deal. Your RV was probably over 60% when you leased that car, now they are around 50.
I’m also looking at GS350 F sport AWD in NY/NJ, my current RX350 is up in July. I got a decent deal on my current lease, $450/month, $1000 out of pocket total, 2015 RX350 AWD. I noticed in Auto Trader the same dealership has GS350 F Sport with $2500 off the MSRP, figures I would see what kind of deals they would do to keep a customer. I just don’t see any deals on cars right now, June or July should be better.
One NorCal dealer said that he can get to 500 per month (I assume 0 down, he said he would send details when he returns to the office Friday) with maximum MSDs.
Since the MF is only 0.00040, how much would the max MSDs be?
